Hi all, i apologise if this is a noob question, but please humour me. What is the deal with space marines special rule ATSKNF. If they are in close combat and lose, failing their leadership test do they still have to do the iniative roll off to see if they are destroyed or not? Or do they just fall back and not be sweeping advanced? I'm confused, when does this rule apply?

because of ATSKNF marines may rally below half, and are never killed outright because of a sweeping advance (they suffer no retreat instead), though if they "succeed" in the initiative test they may still run away.

They're dropping ATSKNF as a special rule and replacing it with 'combat tactics'

Your choice is to Auto fail or roll. There is not choice for auto pass, last I heard.

I heard they were keeping it and adding combat tactics. Who knows for sure?

Oh I hope they are removing it for combat tactics, I had just assumed they would be keeping it. But then I was planning on breaking alot of things in CC with my dark eldar and space marines were going to be a big pain.

regarding the OP's question: If they fail the leadership test you do roll the initiative check, if the space marines win they break off as normal, if they lose then they stack locked and take additional wounds per the "fearless" rules.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Well, I don't know if it'll be there or not, and I won't speculate... I will say that the prospect doesn't look good, considering that it wasn't in this edition's USR's.

I seem to remember that both Combat Tactics and ATSKNF figured in the pictures of the Sternguard and Vanguard entries in the new Codex.

I looked back at that picture from a Gamesday of the new Space Marines codex page for Kor'sarro Khan, and his special rules include ATSKNF.

ATSKNF is in the new codex. They just get more stuff on top of it, such as Combat Tactics. The marines get better in the new codex, not worse.
