With all the talk of crime and punishment I thought you would all get a kick out of this little gem.

About two weeks ago a gun store in my area was robbed. The thieves stole an SUV from a car dealer nearby and backed it through the front of the building and then grabbed some items and ran. The police caught the suspects not long after because of several mistakes they made. One was that they didn't wear gloves and left fingerprints all over the place. The second was that one of the burglars jumped up on a display case and it broke, cutting his leg badly and leaving lots of DNA behind and giving him an identifiable mark. Then of course there is the last mistake, which is being stupid. One of them began bragging about all his guns and showing them off.

Well they were caught and it turns out they were twins.

And they were 14 years old.

And this made there 15th felony arrest this year. (12 GTA, 1 Assualt, 1 Armed Burglary)

And they were under house arrest at the time they committed the robbery and supposed to be wearing ankle bracelets.

Wow. I wonder what version of "the devil made me do it" they'll lean on. I can understand an environment making kids cold, hard, vicious. It's sad but a fact of life in many places. However, this just sounds like troublemaking.

15 arrests in the past year, or 15 arrests since this january? Not that overall it makes a huge difference, evidently. This year, that would mean like every two weeks they are getting in major trouble. THink they'll turn it around befor they make their majority?

Why do people rob gun stores? Surely its very risky, seeing as the Shop Keeper and people in it could just, oh I don't know... grab a gun and tell them to get lost or shoot them in the leg? Just seems a little dumb to me.

They robbed it at night/early morning when the store was closed. It would be more noticeable during the day if you backed a SUV into the side of a building.

They may be screwed this time though because the previous crimes kep them in the local and state system but theft of firearms is a federal offense.

It is illegal for a 14 year old to drive an automobile without a hardship license. I think they're in real trouble for that.

I bet they don't even have gun licenses. Little rotters.

About 10 minutes south of Gainesville, Florida is a small gun shop on State Road 441. Good selection, owner knows his stuff and has an impressive selection.

He also lives there.

One night, several people decided it would be a good idea to rob the gun store. When the sheriff's officers showed up, all the assailants had been killed by automatic weapon fire.

Open, shut. Never rob a gun store in Florida, and don't rob ANYthing in Texas.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Yikes. I always thought the last place I would want to rob is a shop full of guns. Run by someone who really likes guns. Who has a crapload of guns. And knows how to shoot those guns. There's a few alarm bells there for me.

Yah, I'm a firearms enthusiast myself, but some of my local sporting goods store owners are downright scary. Would not be my first choice to try to rob, even during the night.

Often they are burgled. We're talking high dollar easily disposable goodies if no one is around. In Texas when I was growing up all the pickups had shotgun racks. However too many were being stolen by car thieves so people quit doing that and within 10 years we had a nice new CHL law. Ok not as good as a shotgun but Kimber .45 will ruin your day...

But yeah, no one attempts to rob (ak while there are people there) gun stores. Thats just an invitation to a grave.

Yah, I record all the serial numbers of my firearms and store them in a safe place. Come to think of it I havent seen a truck gun rack with anything more dangerous than an umbrella in it for 20 years. I can only think that theft is the reason.

Yes indeed. When I was in high school if you had a pickup without a gun rack you were considered a dork or worse from Louisiana.
