Sneaky Striking Scorpion
Between the Sun and the Sky

To begin, I would just like to say that this army list was simply an idea of mine. I by no means have the models to field an army like this, but might strongly consider it if a.) I ever finish my current army, and b.) if I ever feel like getting another army.
This list began innocently enough as a mere 1750 point LR/Vindicator abuse list, but then thought that expanding to 2500 would give me more room to work with. I remain true to the Iron Warrior spirit by taking the LRs and Vindicators, and NO LASH! Mwuahaha! I actually think this list would perform quite well. So, without further ado...
HQ
DP, Wings, Warptime
ELITES
3x-3 Chosen Terminators, 3 combi-meltas, Icon of Chaos Glory
3x-LR Dedicated Transport
TROOPS
4x-10 Chaos Space Marines, Aspiring Champ w/ Power Fist, Combi-Melta; Icon of Chaos Glory, ML, Plas
HEAVY SUPPORT
3x-Chaos Vindicator, Daemonic Possession
2485
I believe that's the list. I may have one or two things wrong, but if anything, I'm more under points than I thought.
I'm curious to see the feedback on this list, even though I don't have the means to use it.
EDIT: Btw, the Termies DS, the Vindis and possibly the LRs move forward, and everthing else gunlines.

Aw... c'mon I know you can spend those last 15 points.
Well, I can see lots of strengths with this army. That monster of an armored thrust screened by that much infantry would be really hard to beat... I think you would lose a lot if your opponent was able to place some long range anti tank guns on a high place. With anti tank weapons smashing your tanks (vindis first) your main strength would be gone and I don't think that the amount of heavy weapons that your infantry has will be enough to suppress that. I could be wrong, and there could be some new 5e rule that I don't know or something obvious I've overlooked but thats my humble opinion

Buttons Should Be Brass, Not Gold!

Stelek: I'm guessing the icons are to act as teleport homers for staggered deepstrikes from poor rolling (if they live that long), and to provide a reroll for leadership in melee (if they live that long).
With all the armor in that list drawing AT fire, it is conceivable that both those conditions might be met more frequently than not.
30 points out of 2500 to potentially deny KP doesn't seem like wasted points.

Wait, can you take a dedicated transport for terminators, and still DS the terminators?

@ extenm(54) - Yes!
The only restriction on dedicated transports is you can't start the game with a different unit in them to the one they were bought with.
back on topic..
Like the list, I'm not sure about the troop squads, though. PF, combi-melta, plasma and ML in one squad feels like its trying to do too much. You might do better by just dropping the ML's, swapping plasma for melta and mounting them in Rhinos

your CSM squads are trying to do too much. if you want them to be used as gun lines, drop the champ. you should get rid of the combi-meltas in any case, theyre a waste of points. heavy flamers on the termies would be nice, as would more termies. oblits are still better than vindicators, even without lash.

taking up the mission
Polonius wrote:Well, seeing as I literally will die if I ever lose a game of 40k, I find your approach almost heretical. If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

@ Stelek:
The Icons are there for flexibility. They sit, stay, and if I miss with my DS, I can hit next turn.
@ Chimera:
While they have a ridiculously ridiculous loadout, I feel that it's somewhat necessary. Although I could save 100 points or so by dropping the Fists all around (enough to buy some Rhinos, admittedly), I feel that my gunline will inevitably get reached by a few nasties, like MCs and such, and the PFists enable me to give some CC punch (no pun intended) while still retaining my gunline.
@ Regwon:
Heavy Flamers on the Termies would sort of make the Vindis redundant, and also would deprive me of Melta fire. The only thing I want those terminators in there for are some IG-style DS nastiness. As for Oblitz... ugh. I don't like them very much. Also, Vindis are a great deal more accurate (in terms of templates) and are cheaper to boot.
