Heh well as the title says. Has anyone experienced playing an actual game of 40K while under the influence of alcohol, marijuana/cannabis/weed/pot, acid, ecstacy? I must admit that I am quite intrigued by the idea and may try it at the next tournament. I think marijuana would take the imagination/cinematic factor of the game to a new level.
Has anyone tried it and had a really bad game? I don't want to try this and then end up ruining my games due to not being able to follow and count dice etc...
I realize that this is not really tactics at all. But I didn't want to post it in the general forums as I am only interested in 40k players experience really as I have never played any other game system.
Oh and I hope this will not constitute anything illegal. I realize that there is some possible incrimating things said already, but I live in NZ, and a law student and im confident that no charges could be brought on the basis of this thread. It might be different in America though!

hmm, when we were a bit younger we used to drink lager when playing our games. Since our tolerance to the stuff was low back then some of us would get somewhat pissed occasionally. Getting good measurements and moving models around becomes quite a task
We also sniffed craploads of woodglue once before a game. That stuffs horrible! :(
As for the more illegal stuff, some of my old mates used to smoke weed by using their lunch money. They were never really in the mood for gaming when they were on that stuff xD

mine actually improves
spend less time thinking about the after effects of a move and just go for it
just annoyed that you have to be fairly sober to play in tourneys

I usually dont play at local game-stores because you cant drink or get high.
I drink like a fish when I play, I think it's mostly out of nerves. More of a nervous habit while my opponet is shooting at me.
Usually 4-6 beers a game, all during my opponet phase.
I don't smoke while playing, however, my friends all do.
The most benifet I have ever had from it is they forget about wargear or upgrades their unit has.
In "Blood Bowl", getting high will screw you... so many turn markers not being moved.

Every game I play I have at least 3 beers and a joint. I am with darth balls on this one, it sucks only having tons of caffeine and squares in local games (too stressful). Sure you forget to move a squad or fire, but its a game, and it makes it a whole lot more relaxed and brutal (ie every time i smoke i imagine all these little dudes ripping each other to ribbons). Also when you win you feel amazing!

I've considered playing after a hardcore drinking night, but here lately I haven't been drinking as much as I used to. The most I've had is a few shots of 151 and a few beers and just enjoyin a camp fire with the guys. Maybe one of these weekends I'll get them together and we'll get sh!tfaced and try to play.

I can't imagine pills would be a good idea for wargaming, you'd just end up wanting to stop all the fighting and give the enemy army a hug.
Also, I think acid might just mean you end up staring at the pretty models for hours rather than playing.

I usually seem to do a better more strategic job when under the influence .. However it usually ends in damaged terrain/models due to my clumsy drunken hands ><
Perhaps the only reason I seem to do better when drinking is because my opponent usually smokes several bowl/joints during that time

I once spent two and a half hours trying to explain how to play Warhammer Fantasy to a bunch of stoners who wandered into the local store, and man, it was the most strange combination of frustration and outright hilarity I've ever experienced. Usually, if these sort of losers try and waste my time I bawl them out until the vacate my personal space, but I was crammed to the gills with caffeine at the time and in a mood to babble. The only game I've ever played drunk is Warhammer Quest, and I've only ever played it drunk so I don't have a control to compare it to. Anybody who ever went to the skirmishes conventions in Kansas in the mid-90's knew that nearly everypone there (Except for the drama-queens who were running around doing White Wolf live roleplay) was drunk or high. Those were the only cons I've ever went to so I don't know about the rules at any others. Since I quit drinking, I no longer have the patience for roleplay games. Funny how that works out. Never played 40K drunk. I guess I couldn't do any worse than usual.
