What do you guys think of this unit now the storm shield provides a 3+ inv save?
I saw a mate use them the other day and they can take some serious serious punishment. So much so the opponent seems to get that 'must kill them urge' were 3 lascannons dont fell one they fire the rest of their army at them!
So perhaps they are an expensive unit to distract the enemy? Unless you whack them in a land raider, it still seems pretty hard to get them in combat.
I am gonna deep strike mine with a librarian (also with storm shield) for a giggle, hopefully he should be able to provide a little bit of range firepower they lack.
Do any of you think lightning claws are worth taking now?

Lightning claw termies are always good. Relatively cheap, and effective.
Storm Shields don't protect you against Bolter fire.

Its the hidden powerfists and mons creatures that the real use comes in I think. But yea massed small arms fire, they're just like normal terminators.
Perhaps 2 claws and 3 hammers is the best formation?
Thats 8 claw attacks and 9 TH attacks on the charge.
Being shot at you can always slap the rare ap2/power fists saves on the SS/TH terminators mostly.

they are the best when you take blood angles and take them in combination with dante and corbulio. 90% of your attacks will wound and they are power weapons, enough said. In ard boys I have 10 kill 3/4ths of a chaos army and 30 terms in my first game

2+ armor save sure does though.
anyway...
i love the cc terminators with lightning claws and the sarge with th+ ss
i usually stick em onto a terminator chaplain as a command squad
works wonders
however, im thinkin i might even magnetize my terminators i have now for the new 3+ invul...
seems like it could be invaluable against certain things...
like nobz and powerfists and such...

The point I was trying to make was that TH & SH termies are just as weak to bolter fire and flamers as normal termies are. And then you use your AP2 stuff on squishier targets. A squad of 5 in assault range will lose two or three to rapid fire from two squads, or one squad with long ranged support.
But what the SH really helps against is Dreadnoughts, Wraithlords, Carnifexes, etc etc. Anything big with I > 1.

Yeah I am not looking forward to facing Assault Termies. They can chew up just about any ork unit I have in combat, as they no longer fear hidden PKs. Playing with KoS, I'm going to have to avoid them like the plague, or one-two-three punch them to make them go down. Not good times.

The stormshield thunderhammers hands down. You get protection against pretty much the only thing you fear, plasma death and the likes. Terminator armours greatest strength is small arms protection as it is.

I would take 2 TH/SS and 3 LC's. The LC's do the majority of the killing and the SS take the MC or PF hits and then the TH finished off whatever's left.

Monstrous Creatures and Dreadnoughts: TH/ SH.
Meganobz and other Terminators: LC. TH good on Meganobz, too but LC they lose their attacks.
T4: Thunderhammer.
Other targets: Does not matter.
... others?
I would probably go 3 TH/ SH just because you want to take hits on the Storm Shields, AND you want a couple Thunderhammers in there to strike at S8. So you take hits on the Storm Shields, maybe lose one and you still have some Hammer-time. Can't touch this! oh!
