So, I got my hands on a bootleg PDF of the new SM codex, and decided my new favorite chapter was the ImpyFists, and promptly threw together a couple theoretical lists. What'cha all think?

HQ - Darnath Lysander - 200
Troops - 10-man Tactical Squad - Flamer, Missile Launcher, Sergeant with Chainsword - 170
in Razorback - 40
Troops - 10-man Tactical Squad - Flamer, Missile Launcher, Sergeant with Chainsword - 170
Troops - 10-man Tactical Squad - Meltagun, Plasma Cannon, Sergeant with Chainsword - 180
Elites - 5-man Terminator Squad - 200
in Land Raider Crusader - Extra Armor - 265
Elites - Dreadnought - Multi-melta - 105
Fast Attack - Land Speeder - Heavy Bolter - 50
Heavy Support - Vindicator - 115

It's a little small and kinda slow, but the 3 tactical squads and the kind of firepower I can muster seems solid, and with a Crusader full of terminators spearheading I think I can handle most things that get thrown at me.

Criticisms welcome.

Announcing you're a git, probably bad form yes?

It's very...battleforce happy.

Try focusing on just one of the elite/fa/heavy and see what you can do then.

It does look like a black reach core... that is good general marines but that will get eaten up or be "that close" against a focused army list.

1. As it stands, you look like a basic setup that will handle hordes well but be challenged if they get to assault range. Also challenged by a mech force.

2. 1 Dreadnaught is a nuisance, 2 are a pain, 3 are downright nasty and if they are drop podding in, I have to deal with them now.

3. Same goes for your Termie/LRC this is more a philosophy thing but I hate the LRC unless you plan to use all that carrying capacity. Otherwise give me the plain LR or perhaps the new one with the flamers. This looks like the one and only assault unit in your army... If that is the plan let me either vote for adding 2 more termies and one of them should have a heavy flamer. Otherwise a termie assault with lightning claws and hammers with Lysander leading them. Better yet, lose the LRC and look at adding a Dread and add two Drop Pod with Deathwind. (Assuming Blackreach as the core)

1 Dreadnought + Drop Pod Deathwind Launcher w Locator Beacon 160
1 Dreadnought + Drop Pod Deathwind Launcher w Locator Beacon 160
10 Terminators w TH & Shield + Lysander 400 +200

I think if you look around, again assuming BR termies and dreadnoughts, you can get shield and hammer bits and maybe some heavy flamer bits for the dreadnoughts.

Lose the razor back for another drop pod for a tac squad and you have a turn 1 with 2 dreadnoughts and deathwind launchers causing mayhem near vital targets as enemy firesupport units and vehicles. Turn two hopefully the tac squad and lysander come in to secure the objectives or clear the enemy away.

Then your other two tacs can be set up for defensive work to hold another objective.

This is only a suggested way of using them and by no means the only way...

If you like Vindicators... lose the LRC and put 3 out there. Why not? If you really like speeders, how about the anti-infantry setup that now appears legal... 2 heavy bolters and then not 1 but 6 of them. 12 heavy bolters will light up troops quite nicely. If you like troops, lose the mish-mash of vehicles and go for it... your current setup will have a tough time dealing with vehicles especially heavy ones. The only AT you really have for AV 14 is the one dreadnought. If you want to emphasize terminators... hmmm 3 squads of 10 will eat up all your points but would make life interesting when Lysander comes in leading 30 hammers of doom. If you like marines, well how about 3 squads of devastators backing up your tactical line. Let them focus differently than your tacticals... like 4 plasma cannons in one and 8 missile launchers and change the troops to lascannons or multi-meltas. If you like razorbacks, give all the troops a razorback and then maybe look at a sternguard or Command squad in another one.

I think what we are driving at is your army is not too focused other than maybe giving a good fight against say orcs for a couple turns and then the numbers swamp you unless you are very focused on your fire phases and Lysander and the termies don't get overwhelmed.
