I don't understand the fascination with missile pods anymore. As an anti troop choice, there's better guns available to suits, both for light and heavy infantry. As an anti tank choice, well, I just don't think they're all that good anymore, unfortunately, due to the hard nerf glancing took. I used to love them. Now, I'm thouroughly disappointed with their performance.

IMO, for 5th ed., plasma = good, MP = not exciting

I think if you swapped all your MPs for fusion guns, those guys would be rightly feared by most enemies, especially TEQ, big bugs (even tanks) and all for no additional points cost. Or make a bodyguard + 'el with TL Flamers, Burst cannons, and multi-trackers. Talk about dakka!

I also don't think upgrading FW teams with a 'ui/knife is all that important to mounted squads. And don't get me started on decoy launchers. I tried to defend them coming into 5th ed., but once I did the math on them... they're TERRIBLE!

1/6 of all HITS (not shots, but hits) will glance. Remember, decoy launchers DO NOT work on a pen. 1/6 of all glances will immobilize. That means 1 in 36 hits (again not shots, which could easily mean 1 in 54 [BS 4] or even 1 in 72 [BS 3] incoming shots at the devilfish will even call for that reroll). If you think that's worth 25 points to put on all of your vehicles, I won't stop you. I mean you don't even have multi-trackers on your Hammerheads for crying out loud. If you don't have a multitracker, presumably you won't be moving faster than combat speed and consequently you wouldn't even crash on an immobilize, in which case I might not even bother to force a reroll for fear that a railgun could get destroyed! It is a turret after all, and the pods still nerf incoming hits, so honestly, who cares!

Take a bunch of those points that you saved and buy yourself a pathfinder squad, dump one of your FW 'Fish, and mount them in the pathfinder's transport. Then, make two of those sqauds 12 man, and fill the 3rd squad as best you can. Then, when you use markerlights to help blast stuff up when you dismount the warriors, you'll be getting the maximum benefit since the squad sizes will be maxed. Follow me? In other words, one markerlight hit benefits 24 pulse rifle shots more than it does 20 shots. Got it?
