Lustful Cultist of Slaanesh

There are moments in the Warp when Khorne's fury cannot be adequately displayed even by his Bloodthirsters, when Tzeentch's schemes cannot be trusted even to his Lords of Change, when Slaanesh's revelry cannot be contained even by his Keepers of Secrets, and when Papa Nurgle just wants to have a good laugh. There have been moments, whispered in heretical tomes chronicling the history of the Horus treachery and the fall of the Eldar, when reality has cracked open and the Ruinous Powers have poured forth in all their glory. Pray you never witness such a thing.

Lesser Manifestations
A Ruinous Power has far more terrifying things than Greater Daemons at its disposal, should it choose to congeal its twisted energies and flex its talons. A Lesser Manifestation of one of the Ruinous Powers towers over the Greater Daemons even as they tower over the Daemonhost. When one of the Chaos Gods pushes forth a tiny sliver of its Essence, this sliver manifests in the Warp and the Material as a larger, more fearsome version of a Greater Daemon, but with aspects of the Chaos God itself twisting the Daemon's visage.

[Ed: In a force that contains both Greater Daemons and Lesser Manifestations, the normal GW versions of Greater Daemons should be used to represent Greater Daemons, with the larger, more impressive Forgeworld models used for Lesser Manifestations]

Lesser Manifestation of Slaanesh - 600 pts

Greater Manifestations
The to witness a Greater Manifestation were the Eldar, who saw Slaanesh bodily enter the Material to devour the living soul of their first homeworld Gaia. None survived.

In addition to their listed powers, all Greater Manifestations grant all Lesser Daemons of their ilk the power "We'll be Back". If a unit of Lesser Daemons in service to a Greater Manifestation is destroyed, roll 1D6 for each model. On a 5-6, instead place that model back into your Reserve pool. Once all models in a given unit have been destroyed or placed back into reserve, they may re-enter play by Deep Striking, following the rules for Daemons as normal.

Greater Manifestation of Khorne - 2,000 pts
WS: 10 / BS: 4 / S: 10 / T: 9 / W: 8 / I: 7 / A: 8 / Ld: 10 / Sv: 2+ Invul
Unit Type: Gargantuan Creature
Daemonic Gifts: Blessing of the Blood God, Daemonic Flight, Boon of Mutation, Death Strike, Fury of Khorne, Instrument of Chaos
Special Rules: Daemon, Furious Charge, Fury of the Blood God - any successful hit from the Greater Manifestation's close combat weapon automatically inflicts Instant Death on non-vehicles (or D3 wounds on units immune to Instant Death) with no armor or cover save possible, and automatically inflicts a Penetrating Hit on vehicles with a +2 modifier to the Penetrating Hit roll.

Greater Manifestation of Nurgle - 1,750 pts
WS: 8 / BS: 5 / S: 9 / T: 10 / W: 10 / I: 6 / A: 8 / Ld: 10 / Sv: 2+ Invul
Unit Type: Gargantuan Creature
Daemonic Gifts: Chaos Icon, Boon of Mutation, Iron Hide, Noxious Touch, Aura of Decay, Cloud of Flies
Special Rules: Daemon, Slow and Purposeful, Feel no Pain, Aura of Pestilence - Nurgle's Aura of Decay is hideous and pestilent, automatically dealing a S4/AP4 hit to all non-Nurgle units (friendly or enemy) within 12" each turn.

Greater Manifestation of Tzeentch - 2,500 pts
WS: 5 / BS: 10 / S: 5 / T: 6 / W: 5 / I: 8 / A: 2 / Ld: 10 / Sv: 2+ Invul
Unit Type: Gargantuan Creature
Daemonic Gifts: Chaos Icon, Daemonic Flight, Daemonic Gaze, Boon of Mutation, Breath of Chaos, Bolt of Tzeentch, Master of Sorcery, Soul Devourer, Warpfire, We are Legion
Special Rules: Daemon, Twister of the Ways - once per turn, Tzeentch may cause either player to re-roll a single die roll.

Greater Manifestation of Slaanesh - 2,000 pts
WS: 9 / BS: 6 / S: 6 / T: 6 / W: 6 / I: 10 / A: 10 / Ld: 10 / Sv: 2+ Invul
Unit Type: Gargantuan Creature
Daemonic Gifts: Chaos Icon, Rending Claws, Aura of Acquiescence, Transfixing Gaze, Boon of Mutation, Pavane of Slaanesh, Eternal Dance, Sopoforic Musk, Instrument of Chaos
Special Rules: Daemon, Fleet, Alluring Gaze - treat this as an 18" ranged attack that uses the Large Blast template. Any models, friendly or enemy, caught in the blast lose half their attacks (round down) in this turn's Assault phase. Additionally, each enemy unit caught in the blast must make a Leadership test or spend the next turn moving, firing and Assaulting under the Slaanesh player's control.

What do you think, Sirs?

Well, as I said, Lesser Manifestations could just be modeled using ForgeWorld's Greater Daemons, if you use GW's Greater Daemons to represent actual GD's.

as for the Greater Manifestations... no idea. I figure the Chaos Gods can manifest as pretty much whatever they want. I see Slaanesh as being human-sized, Nurgle and Khorne as being Titan-sized, and Tzeench being whatever size he wants from moment to moment.

Good. I like the way you've written the rules, they do sound real one's. I'm especially liking The Greater Manifestation of Slaanesh's Special rule, Alluring Gaze. I could you imagine using it against, say, a Titan princeps? You could use the titan as your own for one turn, imagine the damage and chaos that could cause to your surprised opponent!

the rules are ridiculous, and not in a "fun, apocalypse" kind of way. the nurgle demons in particular are statistically impossible to remove from the board

Went digging through my old posts, and guess what? I've been hating on mat ward since before it was cool

Cool idea, but those things are WAY too powerful. I mean, Apoc wont be fun if its that unbalanced. Those Lesser manifestations are cheaper in points, and better than the Demon Lords in APoc reload, and the Greater manifestations, are basically unstoppable. Apoc is crazy, but it cant be that crazy. Those point values should be much much higher, and those things could only even be possibly fun to play with in a game over 15k.

Forgeworld has actually already produced effectively the same things for what you are proposing. They have currently produced a Slaaneshi greater daemon lord, a khornate greater daemon lord and a nurglish greater daemon lord. all that remains is a tzeentch greater daemon lord. These can be found in the Imperial Armour: apocalypse expansion book. they're really cool though. also note: these things cost as much as titans, with the khornate one costing 888 points, the Slaaneshi one costing 666 points, and the nurglish one costing 777 points. yay favoured numbers.

I dont know, they look hard as hull rivets to me... I do think they are a wee bit overpowered, especially when there are also tons of other targets on the field...
Except when you can chuck a vortex weapon at them, that would ruin their day a bit...
