As part of my megablog I have doen a couple of test NG models.
The blog:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/222067.page
Please help me decide on which one to go with.
My wife has picked, I've picked but I need other opinions.
Anyway here are the biggerised pics.
For 10 minutes of assembly/cleanup, 20 minutes of painting, and about 1 hour of drying time (primarily the glue for the sand, undercoat and devlan mud) it turned out really well.
Considering pre-devaln mud and rehighlight they looked like this:

great paint jobs on both schemes, i voted fine edge, as it looks sharp and neat.
Maybe if you do the clothes all grey and do a barad black wash over it.
But i love them so far

Both schemes are excellent paint jobs. However I chose the heavy dry brushing because when you do a whole mob of them, I think the fine edging will stand out too much and appear dirty or cheap. The heavy should pull all the models together as a mob. Not saying I would feel that the fine edging wouldn't look good on a mob, I just feel that compared to the heavy drybrushing it is inferior.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular." |

They both look pretty good.
I like the heavy grey highlighting a little more.
It makes the robes look more faded, which makes sense if they wear them in the sunlight.
Also, I doubt night goblins have the money to be buying crisp new robes all the time. They'll look good either way though.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Do BOTH. Night Goblins do not have uniform factories pumping out their cloaks. Both schemes look close enough that if you have troops with both schemes in the same unit it will look cohesive, and yet there will be slight variations to make them look more unruly.

The fine edge just looks so much more true to life. Really amazing the difference the wash makes!
