What do people think of this. I was thinking 3 squads Missile Launcher/ Grenade Launcher and 2 squads Autocannon/ Grenade Launcher. Keeping in mind they are only BS2.

Conscripts with Autocannon and Grenade Launcher: 72 points
Infantry squad with same: 83 points
3x Autocannons: 95 points

Note the disadvantage, they actually lose their lasgun.

I think they are at their best when you just stick with lasguns.

Do they have the option of mortars? Can't remember; if so, they're not a bad option to squeeze off a shot or two before doing what they're meant to do - be led by a commisar and tar pit the heck out of an enemy close combat.

Guy won a local tourney with a massive squad of conscripts with gaunt and an Inq with Null Rod attached to it. Massive, fearless, psychic immune, scoring tar pit ftw.

Ah my bad I have not read the Codex in a while. Yes, if they are one giant squad they are just a tarpit, really. I might look at two squads of 20 or even 30.

Grenade Launcher and missile launchers aren't such a bad idea in a large unit firing off 10 blasts ,BS2 so it might scatter alot ...but it's going to be hard to cause enough wounds to get them but i can see that isn't going to being every ones first choice of weapons ... most people i know just max flamers
