Renegade Inquisitor with a Bound Daemon

A bit of a detour from my Grey Knights, these wonderful boyz arrived on thursday. Got to work on them right away, and started painting them on Friday(note to you guys out there, don't try priming at -40, it works, but it's cold as hell out there). The colour scheme is a mix of Deffskullz, Snakebites, and Bloodaxes, as I want to have a stealthy army, with a lot of reliance on Kommandos. However, I've decided to not really focus on any one clan, and just work with what I think looks good. Hopefully, every model in the army will have the blue and white diagonal stripes across the face, and lots of other white and blue markings. All the shirts will also sport blue, white, and black camo.
Here are the first three of the first lot, Madgitz the Big Mek, Zagsnik the Kommando Nob(I plan on having him count as Snikrot, for now at least), and Gorskul the Kommando.
First, Madgitz Mekbitz. He's the wrong model, ordered the other Big Mek, but both models are absolutely beautiful, so I just decided to keep him. Some very light conversions took place on this model. The ammo was removed from the blasta, a lighter was added to the front, and a cord was added from the magazine to the backpack. I'll count it as a burna. The choppa gained an orb at the end, and a paintjob to resemble energy bouncing back and forth. It'll be a KFF, somewhat like a staff that generates the barrier. He's like a freaking psychotic mekanikol shaman!
As for Zagsnik, similar idea for the paintscheme. Blue with light camo on the shirt, random markings on the arms, stripes on the face. I really love how he turned out, and he's easily one of my favourite models in the ork range. I think I may use this guy as Snikrot, even after the Snikrot model comes out, because I just love this model so much(then again, the Snikrot model looks to be pretty cool looking too). And for the sake of the Snikrot bit... let's just say he decides to use his mekanikol hand instead of the powerklaw... or something like that. Also, his model is incredibly heavy for one so small. I have no idea what the hell's in him, but it sure is heavy. But I like 'em like that.
I started by using a heavy wash of dark angels green for the skin. Just as I expected, it worked perfectly with the white primer, creating a natural highlight and shading effect. The rest was a fairly simple and straight forward application of single coats of colour, finished with a very heavy black glaze(Vajello) wash.
Second Kommando Gorskul reporting! Once again, a beautiful model. I love the gums, expression, and overall pose of this model. The more I look at these kommandos, the more I love them. Beautiful models.
Colours used include:
Dark Angels Green
Regal Blue
Boltgun Metal
Mithril Silver(Zagsnik and Gorskul only)
Shining Gold
Kommando Khaki
Bleached Bone
Chaos Black
Vajello Saddle Brown
Vajello White
Vajello Black Glaze
Testors Red
Thoughts? C&C? I'm kind of scared of moving on to plastic minis, because up until now(and until I finish these 5 Kommandos, the rest will be converted boyz), I've only worked on metal minis, with my Grey Knights. It shouldn't be a hard change, but it'll be awkward not having so much weight to work with.

Oh, and I guess this topic should go into P&M blogs... if a mod were so nice as to move it, that would be great.
Update!:
The metal kommandos are complete! All the rest will be converted from normal boyz.
Third Kommando Snakeyez, reporting in. He gets his name from those awesome eyes. Love the pose. Not sure whether he'll beat you with the dynamite or the choppa, but one thing's for sure, it's gonna hurt.
Fourth Kommando Swampsnik, reporting in. He looks like he's been sneaking behind a wall or trench, ready to ambush someone as they walk by. Really nice pose.
Fifth Kommando Wurrgob, reporting in. His face was horribly burned in battle once(hence the name Wurrgob, meaning 'wierd mouth'), and so he wears a full face mask and respirator into battle. The red lenses make it a little hard to see, but that's okay, as having a hard time seeing has only improved his aim!
Lastly, the Kommando elite(all the plastic kommandos will be the initiate kommandos, the ones that have just ascended from boyhood to kommandohood), altogether.

Okay, I'm going to say it like this: The KFF Mek model is my favourite model in the entire Ork range. There. I said it. So I finally got it, I made sure to paint 'em up real nice. Decided to try using undiluted blue ink instead of regal blue for the tunic. May try it again sometime, but for now, I'll stick with regal blue. I love the look of this model. From the giant tesla coil backpack, to the really intelligent eyes, and the look on his face. Notice that I did the crosshair on the targetter.
Speaking of targetter, that big red button and targetter piece just screams 'gimme a really big gun...'
Anyway, I present to you: Mekboss Zappastomp!

Really? I perfer metal. Just the feel of it, and the weight. Really do a lot for me that plastic doesn't. I'm kind of sad that I've no more metals to do for a while.

Well, today we've got dakka, dakka, and more dakka... and some choppa...
First, to start with the choppa. First boyz mob nob completed. Nob Zogklaw. He wasn't exactly the most fun thing in the world to paint, but he was a good warm up. Sorry for the blurryness in the second pic.
Then, I got started on my first loota. Pretty cool models. They're a pain to assemble, and then a pain to take apart when you realize that you'll never get them painted when they're actually assembled. However, he looks pretty cool in the end. Since this cruel sin against the machine god appears to be a combination of a lasgun, amoung other weaponry, I decided to make it look like the battery on the left shoulder was overheating(as Ork technology isn't always that reliable...). The blue is also supposed to look like random bolts of electricity surging across the poorly-made frame. Overall, I'm very happy with this model. Working with it was pretty tedious, but in the end, it looks like it was worth it. Oh, and his name is Baddakka(if you're noticing a trend, don't worry, the normal boyz won't get names. I'm not that crazy).
And then I finished the day with a mek. He'll end up joining the ranks of my burna boyz. Pretty cool model, and fairly fun to paint. I really like the overall look of the model, and the gun is really cool. Since he's not wearing a shirt, I got to have a lot of fun with the markings. His name is Metal 'ead.

Just two lootas today, gotta get ready for Xmas and all, not gonna have enough time to do one tomorrow... today...
Fairly underwhelming update. First is a loota that just... I'm not too proud of. He simply doesn't look as good as the other boyz in the warband.
As for the second one, he was looking great. Really freaking awesome. Only thing is that my wash started to dry up at this point(same wash I used for all the other units in the army), and by this point, it was only the bottom of the pot stuff left. Pretty much ended up ruining a great paintjob.
All in all, I'm pretty dissapointed off with todays results. I wouldn't even post these were it not for the sake of being consistant. I also ended up screwing up the paintjob of the fourth loota yesterday. I think I'll take a break from lootas for a bit, and work on my kommando conversions and burnas.

No update yesterday, busy with Xmas and all. Got a lot of giftcards, money, and candy and junk. Anyway, on to what we all really care about.
Well, today was pretty good, paint wise. Got 2 burnas done, and boy, are they sexy! Absolutely love the models, and I think I did them justice this time around. I coloured their sleeves and pants black for one main reason:
Since they need to carry super heavy weaponry into close combat range, they need to be super stealthy. So, of course, they need to use colours that match their environment. However, they're faced with the issue of the environment changing as they move across it. So, in a moment of genious, the burnas figured it all out. If they burn everything around them, it'll all be black and covered in ash! And if they colour their clothing black, they'll blend in with that too! They still havn't found a way to hide the giant plumes of flame that mark their advance, but that's all in da workz.
First, we have... Da Bandit! He'll burn you, take your stuff, and burn that too! Everyone wishes they were this cool!
Second, we have Blankgrim. No one really knows what's behind that mask. Is it a hopeless romantic? Is it a psycopathic killer? We'll never really know. What we do know, however, is that he's pretty damn good with a burna.

Well, I'll be busy tomorrow, so I might not have something to show off, or if I do, it'll only be one model, but, for what we have today... a burna and a mek.
Oh, and because its getting really annoying to move and replace your entire army off and on your desk every time you need to take a picture, from now on, I'll be using one of my shelves for the pictures.
First, we have the burna, Dreglotz. Ended up touching the bottom of the pot for the wash again, but he manages to look like he's covered in soot. So all's right with the world.
And then, the second mek, Gear'ead. The differences between Gear'ead and Metal'ead are fairly small. But, hey, individualism goes out the window when half your head is robotic.

Update's a bit late, but I was watching Gotham Knight, so you KNOW it was worth it(oh, and watch Gotham Knight. It's kinda like the Animatrix, but Batman: Year One instead of a machinemindfuck. It's also just as good.).
Anyway, MORE BURNAS! I'm only showing front/side views of burnas from now on, as I'd imagine that you've gotten bored from seeing the same gas tanks over and over by now.
First, we have what I managed to get mostly done last night, but wasn't able to properly wash as I had to mix some new stuff(still havn't gotten the new mix quite right yet, and I'm out of Black Glaze. I'll be visiting my hobbyshop tomorrow, thankfully, so I can buy new stuff, or should that fail, I can use some Chaos Black), and I rewashed him today. Well, we have Da Uvver Bandit. He's kinda like Da Bandit(the leader of my Burnas), but lamer. He idolizes him, because he 'burns da oomies real nice,' and wants to be just like him. Sadly, he's just not nearly as cool(or as krumpin'). But he tries real hard.
Second, we have Blancgob. He's Blancgrim's brother(as far as Fungus can be confirmed). He's similar to Blancgrim, in that he always wears a mask, but for supposedly different reasons. Rumour has it that his face is a gate to the warp, and that many a friend and foe has met their death when he accidentally opened his mouth. From then on, he apparently kept his face bound. Of course, no one can vouch for how true it is, and rumours, both true and false, spread like wildfire. Of course, this could all be cleared up if he ever told anyone, but it's hard to translate muffled ork...
Lastly, Numnutz. He can't really keep his attention on any one thing. One moment, he's frying da 'oomies like a pro, and the next, he's chasing random insects. Because of that nature, he was given a burna, as aim isn't really required when you're firing a giant cloud of flame. Of course, many a time, he's ended up accidently shooting his allies when he wasn't looking...

First, I'll just put a quote for my army's warboss in here, the original topic can be found at: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/quote/0/498634.page
I just figured he was so big that he deserved his own topic.
Fafnir wrote:He took over eight hours to paint, but I think he's done, finally. A freaking beast, and a pain in the ass too. But then again, I guess that's what makes him an ork.
Skragor was once an ordinary Warboss, Leader of the Blades of Mork, a warband that worships Mork exclusivly. However, one day, when Madgitz and Zappastomp recovered the old and battered remains of a suit of mega armour, everything would change. It's said that the armour he wears once belonged to Ghazghkull himself, a previous suit to the one he wears now. Madgitz and Zappastomp repaired and upgraded the suit, making it deadlier then ever. Upon donning the suit, Skragor was either flooded with the knowledge of the gods, or shocked by a stray electrical cable, we'll never know. However, from that point on, he began calling himself the Herald of Mork, believing that he is the physical manifestation of Mork's power.
When painting the armour, I wanted it to have a very ancient look, since it's supposed to be one of Ghazghkul's earlier suits of Mega armour. And even though it has been upgraded and repainted over time, Skragor would never actually take it off either, meaning that it would become scratched over time. In the end, it is a heavily beaten and bruised suit that still kicks as much ass as ever.
And now, without further ado, The Herald of Mork!

Finally, back to the topic at hand... the burnas are complete!
First, Radio'ead(yes, I'm a fan of the band), and Weldaboy:
And finally, all of the burnas assembled in one unit of burninating burny-ness (that's a Perfect Grade Strike Gundam in the background, in case anyone's wondering. Excellent model, won't be turning that one to bitz any time soon):
I really, really love burnas, the appearance, and the models. I don't ever want to paint another one ever again. Ever.

Finally, Sunday update. Got 4 lootas done this week.
First, Lotzdakka. The last one I finished up, about 20 minutes ago. The paint's still drying, so he's a little glossy.
Then, Leadface. Unlike the other Lootas that use las-based deffguns, his isn't overheating. Perhaps he's fairly sensable compared to the rest of the squad...
Deffkill. His name comes not only from his kills being definate, but also because they're deafeningly loud.
Lastly, Goldeneye. He gets his name for the golden bionic eye he has. Hasn't done anything for his accuracy though...
Anyway, that was a fairly decent update, I guess. I'll be updating next sunday if I don't die during driver training

This week was kind of slow, because I had an english final and then driver training for the rest of the week(driver training's tiring, what can I say& gt , so I only got one model done. I have a math final tomorrow, and after that, I'm free for a while, so hopefully I'll get something done during that time, but I have Persona 4 and Bangai-O spirits to beat too (both games are awesome, get them. Oh, and even though Nocturne and DDS are better then P4, it's still an incredibly good title).
I gots me a Snikrot.... and a box of Nobz that are still unpainted! Anyway, I decided to not use the backpack, as I think he looks better without it. As for it being Snikrot himself, I really don't think it fits the description given in the codex. I'll run him as Snikrot, of course, but he'll have a new name and fluff, which I'll write up in my main topic, along with the rest of the Sunday update.
When I was about to give him the wash that I give all my models, I found out that my wash had dried up. So, I got some water, and about half a jar of Chaos Black, and made a new super heavy mix with that, as oppossed to my usual Black Gloss. I then literally bathed him in it.
After that, he didn't look quite right, so I rubbed his skin (fingers, not a brush) with some boltgun metal , and then washed him again. He looks like he's been recently perspiring a bit. So, in total, that's basecoats->chaos black wash->metal rub->chaos black wash

Really good work and a lovely blog model by model. A couple of points from me though:
Zagsnik's power fist looks a little unfinished to me. It's crying out for some little painted glyph in that nice black clean bit on the top.
The cigars in a couple of the models should have a little red tip to make it look like a cigar rather than a black rod.
Other than those really minor points, great work, keep it up!

Well, I won't be doing that for two reasons. First, I LOVE that head. Second, I figure that it could be considered part of the armour, and since Dagul is wearing a set that once belonged to Ghaz, all is right with the world.
Not to mention that it's superglued in, so I can't really take it out.
As for the cigar tips, I've meant to go and add the red, but I keep forgetting. I should get that done. Also, I should add a glyph or something to Zagsnik's fist.

Really like your painting - you have done a great job.
It is let down however with your prep work - clearing up the flash lines and drilling the barrels would IMO make a huge difference seeing as they are painted so nicely.
