Hey folks, here is some Jungle terrain in various states of progress. My brother (seen in 2nd picture) came over for the holidays and we got a couple of Catachan vs Elder games in. This was a bit of a test to see how the new TLOS rules would effect the older Catachan codex. The games were fun though I had a bit of an advantage as I have a few 5th games under my belt and this was JT's first. Also, he hadn't played against Eldar with this army so some of the units were a bit of a surprise (I usually play orks in the Jungle fights).

Happy to say the terrain felt great and the Catachans get quite a boost with the new outflank rules as most of the army can infiltrate.

Cheers and all the best for the New Year!

Well, he was the guard and did pretty well. As these were his first games he wasn't used to the victory conditions (capture and control for the firsts battle).

I cleared his objective with two units of outflanking scorpions while holding mine with WG, Karandras (and scorpions) and pathfinders.

LOS is easy enough with a laser pointer. I have some new plants I'll be cutting up to make fronds with. This should block quite a bit more LOS.

I'm hoping to have the grass areas painted better to help them blend into the board better.

Where did you get the plants? They look really nice! I'm also impressed with the road, what did you use to make it?

That's a great looking table and scenery... reminds me of 'Nam.

@BigToof: The plants I have been collecting for a bit. Started with a couple of the vegatation packs GW was selling but have moved to much cheaper options. Try flower stores and Michaels. Often, they have grass used for center pieces. I've seen other stores using plastic grass, as well. (I saw some being used in an athletics stores). A tray of the grass is $5-$10 dollars and I just snip the tray apart and hot glue the pieces to the MDF board. (as you can see in the last picture, I had to pull all the grass terrain I had for this battle)

The frond type plants used in the rocky outcrops were bought at Michaels in Couer D'alene, ID. Buy these in the States if possible as the price on the tag is double, if you buy in Canada. What is on the table is probably half a $10 batch of plants.

The Roads I got from here: http://www.jrminiatures.net/15mmdirtsroads.aspx?page=2

I've glued more sand to the edges and repainted to give the red clay look. They are treated as trails. They and the clearing are the only pieces of none difficult terrain on the board!
I'll post some more pics of some impassable hills with foliage.

@ Ebsolom: Yeah, my collection of 'Nam books and movies has growing in the last couple of years as I tried to gather reference. Been watching a lot more Predator, as well

Thanks for the feed back.
