Who are the Karskins and why are their models soooo win compared to the rest of the IG range? Are they an elite unit? Are they from a planet with better equipment standards? What makes them so special that their models look so much better than the Rambo-esque catachans and the modern looking cadians?

They are stormtroopers, specially trained and equipped

they are stormtroopers, have hellguns and a 4+ save
they are an elites choice and can be troops if you take the grenadiers doctrine

They are specially trained by the Schola progenium the same place commissars come from,I think.They have better training then normal guardsmen and are better equipped,but I don't accually think there the same as stormtroopers.



EDIT-even though in game they can be used to represent stormtroopers from a fluff perspective I think that they are exclusivally by the Cadians.

I think karskrin are actually part of a cadian regiment trained on Cadia but the stormtroopers are trained with commissars and arein separate regiments

While still on the subject of karskins, but not really on the subject of fluff; how many come in a box and with what options and are all the figures one piece?

You can buy the Veteran Sgt seperately, or a two pack containing the melta, and plasma gunners. (all metal).

So, with the new codex coming out soon, would it be "fluffy" for them to use Valkyries as transports or do they prefer the use of chimeras or drop chutes?

valkyries would be fine fluffwise, and look cool!

Sweet.. I've been planning on a conversion with IG fast roping out of the back using coat hangers painted black for the rope and using it to replace the flying base for the model. Is there any truth to the rumor I've been told that they're actually going to plastic here soon or is that just normal storm troopers?

The Kasrikin (Carrot Skin) are Cadian Stormtroopers. Though you can still get the older varient of GW website.
