okay, I have'nt really checked around to see if anyone else has taken this name or color scheme but if they have have ill change it pronto!
anyway, i havent posted in a long time and I am really bad at not abandoning projects when i have another playable army BUT i dont have another playable right now(bye bye orks).
What this thread is about is that i have decided to make a new SM chapter since I didn't really love any of the ones available. I have named my chapter " the imperial talons" who are a subset of the apocalypse chapter that split of from them when the chapter master decided to become a renegade and swirl into a shroud of darkness. the chapter is most definitely loyal and changed their colors when they broke off to disassociate with their dickish brethren. Their colors are black, yellow and red(not to be confused with black and gold). The only similarity they have in common with their chaotic rivals is that they favor armored advances and single strong blows instead of many less powerful offensives. I have no fluff on the chapter itself because I have decided not to do a force with a chapter master that would normally be the main force of the chapter. i have decided to make a 1000 point list to start because i dont have very much money(being in highschool and not wanting to get a job ) it will be as follows:

HQ
captain
relic blade
meltabombs

command squad
combat shield
2 power weps
flamer

drop pod(for command squad+commander)

TROOPS
2 tac squads 10 man
missile launcher+flamer
power wep each

rhino for 1 tac squad

FAST ATTACK
assault squad
10 man
flamer

ELITES
dreadnought

i won with this list using proxies to test it out but that was when i had gotten my math wrong and it was a bit overpowerfull . i dont know how it will play now. Actually yes I do, it will SUCK. pleez give me advice on how to make it better. i really wanted to have two rhinos and a heavy flamer on the dread.

i have an almost finished a captain and i have the design for the transfers i will be puting on the marines shoulder pads.
here are pics:

EDIT: the pics suck lemme change em in a sec
EDIT: 4th try got okay pics.

C&C welcome(actually C&C needed)

hey, hey, hey, I'm back!

oh....nobody replied.....

anyway sorry for the double post but i cant keep waiting for a reply forever can I!?(no, I cant).
I have just come into posession of about 30 black reach marines, and a chaplain with a jump pack( due to some advice in another part of the forums i am no longer using a captain( or maybe i will just use a captain with a jump pack instead of a chaplain). I have started painting and have had some good results, my color scheme is good to go and all my first 3 marines need is some cleanup. I also have finished my chaplain's paint job as well and I've cleaned up my captain and painted him too. Pics here:

Are these completed? A lot of areas need to be touched up, and you could use some color/highlighting. Right now it just looks like black armor with some yellow parts and silver everywhere. Pick a non-black color for cloth. Also your yellow looks very thick in places.

Since I have some experience in yellow, do what I do, and what someone posted a tutorial about; base coat white, yellow ink over and if you want to, do what I do and go over that yellow with a real paint(not totally necessary unless you miss stuff base coating) then for black parts build up from grey (thin down paints too).

Just a question; is that chaplain's crozius on a spring? If you are going for a ball and mace look then you might want to invest in a CSM box, not only a lot of cool buts but a lot of old and archaic pieces of armor also.

Keep up the effort and take your time.

I love the idea. The colors are great too. Reminds me of "good" Iron warriors.
You need to water down your yellow and apply a few thin coats of it. It takes longer yes, but it looks WAY better when your done. Doesnt look like its glopped on.
Other then that, I like it, also love the flail you made for that chaplain. Pretty damn cool

@ph34r:
i looked at them again after i posted the pics and was grossed out by the paint jobs so i worked on them a little and I took off the chappy's flail(sorry king cracker) and mostly redid the yellow. here are the marines, the black wash on the chaplain is still drying:
EDIT: the yellow is really gloppy(like you all said), I will try to avoid that on the next few
also the pics really just dont do these guys justice, i need to get a new camera and a light box or something
