They both do different things. Neither is better. It depends on your army as a whole; what do you need to do more, kill marines and other infantry at long range, or kill terminators or insta-kill t5 opponents at really short range? Overall, I would say that the LRBT is better in most situations. Plasma guns can handle what it cannot, and having a 24" range makes your tank pretty vulnerable.

Of course, if you buy the demolisher box set, couldn't you paint all the bits and cunningly convert/magnetise it to be whatever you want? I think the demolisher box still has the battlecannon parts in it...

I second ArbitorIan's statement. If you're only going to have one, magnetize the sponson and trade for a second turret (it's pretty difficult to magnetize the main cannon.)

Yea the magnets are really the way to go on something like that. That way you can get 2 tanks for one, and itd be useful no matter what your playing against. Flexibility is a must in this game

Or you could buy both and have my kind of flexibility where you just have multiple tanks for anything you could take.

I have both, and the LRBT is much more flexible. The demolisher cannon is handy against certain opponents, but like others said its lack of range is a handicap.
for best economy, magnetize the sponsons, and buy the seperate forgeworld turrets.

they are all good points, i'll probably get both and use magents like ArbitorIan said, i heard that with the new codex coming out there will be more tanks and the demolisher and LRMT will be in the same box, so i will probably wait until the new codex comes out.
thanks
