Hey guys,

Been getting the itch to do a little Red Corsairs list (maybe 1000 or so) and was reading the Tale of Four Gamers to follow the RC army that took shape in there. It seemed like it had a lot of heavy flamers, combi flamers and basic flamers. That feels cool and fluffy, but do you think a list can still be viable (in terms of "I dont need to win tournaments, I want to play for fun and win sometimes" viable)?

Well, the problem is to bring all the flamer type weapons to bear.
Squads mounted in Rhinos can do or deep striking Termies arriving near an icon.

It's a viable list (in a non-tournament context) with appropriate transports. Some armies will hose this army (mechanized, anything that can ping transports at range) some armies will be hosed by it. It's a specialized list, and therefore has inherent flaws.

Why is a Red Corsairs list that focuses on taking one style of weapon at the expense of others more "fluffy?"

That being said, I like flame weapons. They can be fun, but if you don't bring enough units that can bust transports you'll find yourself feeling impotent against mechanized enemies.

Maybe it's because of the Heavy Flamethrower built into the Tyrant's Claw.

So since Abaddon has a daemon weapon, in a fluffy Black Legion army every trooper has one

Except that only Chaos Lords have access to Daemon Weapons in the army list.

The correct analogy would be that since Abbadon has the Mark of Chaos Ascendant, that marked troops from each of the four Great Powers and at least one Icon of Chaos Glory should be included in the army.
