I've been using alot of gear in my armies (mainly because i'm a crazy nut and i love giving my battlesuits 10 different ways of shooting with 15 different ways of multi-tracking pesky space marines) and i've been looking for what gear i should be taking and what to avoid due to uselessness.

Here's my findings so far.

Multi-Tracker - Take with all suits and tanks, able to fire more weapons on the suits while tanks can move 12" and still fire.
Targeting Array - Awesome stuff, always take them cus you can't go wrong with more BS, which means more hits and wounds overall
Plasma rifle - Full of cheese, i like it XD
Missle Pod - Again, full of cheese XD
Fusion Blaster - I like to hand a random suit or two with a blaster, mainly because i hate fighting tanks with low str weapons. Only con is the sucky range of 12"
Burst Cannon - Useful on a tank or something, but pretty much useless on a crisis suit (Stealth suits are Burst Cannon whores anyhow)

Sadly both the multi-tracker and targeting array conflict with each other on a normal suit (not the team leader, bodyguard, etc) so you have to pick one or the other. Personaly i would take the multi-tracker for the extra shots.

For my Commander, i've taken this setup (i know it's slowed to most, but it's worked quite well for me ^_^)

-Plasma rifle
-Airbursting frag projector
-Shield Generator
-Stimuiant injector
-Failsafe Detonator
-Hard-Wired Multi-Tracker

Yes, i know the failsafe detonator won't see much use, but it's SO much fun if it goes off. I was bested by genestealers one time and my commandered triggered his detonator, taking ALL of the genestealers with him XD

Avoid the following gear (They do nothing becasue of 5e)

-Target Lock (Target priority)
-Command and control node (Again, target priority)

Anyone else want to put their 2 cents in?

Target Locks let you split fire so they are not entirely useless. For example, give a Hard Wired Target Lock to a Broadside team leader and you are able to split fire with your rail guns at two targets. Nifty hunh?

I take a Shas'el with similiar upgrades. I prefer the Missle Pods to the Plasma rifle. I feel there is more synergy between the AFP and Missles than Plasma. Burst Cannons are another weapon I pair with Missle Pods. You also forgot flamers. Don't overlook them as they are the cheapest weapon available and are a nasty surprise for anyone trying to charge you. Finally, I prefer multi trackers over target arrays, because I prefer more shots to more accuracy. More shots make up for your lack of accuracy and have a higher potential output.

I personally like using Shas O's with Plasma Rifles and Fusion Blasters, with Iridium Armor, and Stimulant Injectors.

The basic squads of elite crisis suits, I like with Flamers and Plasma giving you a very useful multi-purpose unit, and with the 5E changes to cover the flamers work even better now.

I am really wondering if Tau are going to get a new codex as I've just bought it. And if they do will the battle force change to include plastic pathfinders?

I would like to see firewariors with perhaps the option to take a rail rifle or burst cannon like in firewarrior.

I play a Shas'el with TL-MP and AFP, usually with a HWDC and two shield drones. Occasionally I'll throw in a stimm injector, but don't like Iridium armor much. My Crisis suits usually run fireknife - either 2 suits, nothing else, or 3 suits, with a TL, BK, and HWDC and two shield drones. Very occasionally I'll run suits with PR/FB, TLML+flamer or TA, TLFB+flamer or TA, or TLMP/BC.

I use pretty much every piece of wargear available for Crisis Suits, but I run Farsight with an advanced unit of uniques. They were running PL/MP, but I am about to try FB/MP with some Target locks. I am still tweaking loadouts as I have had alot of suggestions.

You can take Hardwired Multi-trackers. (Up to 100pts on wargear if I am correct)

Pretty much all the other suggestions are on here... Stim Injects.. some shield drones... Bonding knife.. I suggest investing in rare earth magnets

The Tau are getting a new 'dex? Seriously? They JUST GOT ONE! I had to wait for years to get a new Guard Codex, and after just 2 years Tau get a new one? I doubt that (at least I hope not )

Hello Guardsmen, look at your Leman, now back to mine, now back to your Leman, now back to mine. Sadly, your Leman isn't mine, but if they stopped using standard engines and switched to Lucifer Pattern, they could move like they're mine. Look down, back up. Where are you? Your in a battlefield with the Rhino your Leman could move like. Whats in your hand, back at me, I have it, it's the fire control for the Twin-linked Assault Cannons aimed at you. Look again, it's a Deep-Striked Land-Raider. Anything is possible when your Tanks move like Blood Angels, and not like Guardsmen. I'm on a Baneblade.
