I've just bought two Killa Kans and they're my first metal models but I'm having a really hard time getting the legs to stick on. Firstly I had to push one half of the body out from the inside with pliers to allow it to slot together and now I'm using Loctite superglue but the legs wont stick on. I've sat there holding the legs in place but they just fall off when I move my fingers. I then balanced them in place using the base and some tissue and left it for an hour whilst I assembled some other models and touched it again and the legs are still loose. What is happening here? I thought superglue was the thing to use for metal models, what am I doing wrong?

Secondly, I've finished my first squad of Ultramarines which I'm fairly pleased with for my first attempt. I added the water transfer to the shoulder guard on one marine but I was wondering how to eliminate the shiny look. I don't want to paint the white horseshoe shape by hand because I don't have the ability yet to do it well.

1: clean the model in warm soapy water, let it fry, then glue it, it still has agent on it from the mould, once thats gone it will stick fine

2: only ways i know to get rid of the shine:

1a: paint over the shiny area and around the actual picture on the transfer.

1b: give the model a thin coat of matte varnish, it will kill off the shine.

Edit: killa kan legs are annoying, ive put together 9 so far, and the pins never fit right, i used green stuff on one of them to keep it in place.

there some glue out there that I have been using for years it is called GOOP house hold glue this stuff works great on metal models and drys in about a minute, and if you get it on your hands it rubs rights off it won't glue your hands together like some super glues. The only thing is that it,s a little messy so I use a butter knife and just get a little right out of the tube. It cost about 3.00$ or so. but my friend you will never go back to other modeling glues once you use this stuff. trust me.

Thanks for the replies. I don't know if I'll be able to get the Goop clue here in the UK, I'll have to check that out. In the short term I'll try washing the models as suggested. I'll let you know how I get on.

could be that the glue is old. if it doesn't make your eyes water from 2ft away then chuck it - the active ingrediant has all evaporated.
also loctite is usually a bit thick. the glue i use is very, very runny. you stick your fingers to a lot more stuff but the model also tends to stay stuck together.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Also as far as metal minis go, you really should pin the parts together. It makes a superior hold.
