With three unpainted armies staring me in the face, I have decided to go with a dip for my Tyranids, specifically Army Painter. My question is whether the acrylic Citadel paints will hold to the dip varnish after it has dried. My current plan is to spray them bone, dip them, then paint the carapace a flat color (likely DA Green or Black), but I am worried that the paint won't hold. The goal would be for the skin to have a more gloss appearance than the carapace, and also let me highlight the carapace as opposed to only shading it. Has anyone tried painting over a dipped model, before?
