Ok, have to be honest the GF behind me first comment was "its rainbow bright meets nurgle."

The colors are a bit strong and very contrasting to most thing that we commonly consider nurgle.

I don't like the red. It's way too bright. They look like they're not even part of the model.

Have to second the too bright comment. Ive always thought of nurgle as being muted tones.

it rather reminds me of the inside of a jack'o'lantern i didn't toss out soon ennough, very "rotten" looking coloration to me.
but the red does stand out a bit from the rest

First thing that struck me when I saw this, was it needs to have some inks run over it to give it some low lights (preferably brown or black). It's really bright with not much definition. It's coming together well, but isn't quite done yet.

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.

I agree with this.

Pick out the face, seriously darken the whole thing up. That (while nicely blended) is the horrible combination of a rusty car wreck and a tub full of Gummy Bears.

Folks, its a WIP.

I doubt he would leave it this way.

I feel that is a solid approach, though. Seems you have most of the right colors where they belong, now just get into the long, demanding process of working in the details and picking out highlights, etc.

If you aren't using the Herald, send him my way. I want to cast up that rusty arm and make it my standard Chaos SM powerfist.

Holy crap isnt that... moltar? Wasnt that his name from the Space Ghost show?

OT I like it but I agree on the red being a bit bright. I know you commented on the camera making it look to red. MAybe in person its not so bad. Other then that nice job!

For some reason rotting buttcheeks gross me out more than anything, and i'm a huge horror/gore flick fan. I just get skeeved out by rotting butts.

Anyway the painting looks great so far! Just darken up that red a bit and work on some detail.

used GIMP & more ink washes / tints / glazed to help tone it down. Picts are now very close to the real colours.

Rust is crushed pastels in a burnt umber oil paint wash over a dark flesh base. follow with ink washes and some tamyia weathering powders.
Still more detailing work to go & the base of course.

to em_en_oh_pee - no the herald is not up for sale! he is bigger than a termie BTW!
