I was wondering how do people usually equip a Slann? I was thinking.

Immune to non magical weapons
Full Lore
Discard 6s
Plague of Tepok
2 Dispel Scroll
Battle Standard Bearer

Slann does end up being sort of expensive though.

+ Power dice (If I have the points)

Curse charm tepok (when enemy mage rolls on miscast table, can force a reroll)
Cupped Hand of the old ones- Roll d6 when get miscast, on 2+ can shift it to an enemy wizard I can see... (See above item for combo )
Dispel scroll

Why take the full lore ability then the item that allows an extra spell from that lore?

I like mine to be a good caster, while making the temple guard block he rides in pretty much indestructible unless I do some very stupid things:

bsb (sun standard)
+1 power die
MR(3)
reroll miscasts
plaque of tepok (extra spell)
then either the cube of darkness, or curse charm

this makes the slann a pretty respectable caster (5 spells, free power die, reroll miscasts), but equally importantly my stubborn, ItP temple guard (with the rerolled coldblooded Ld9) also have MR(3) and -1 to shooting outside 12", -2 within. Meaning you've got to charge them if you want to do any serious damage, and once you do you have to kill each and every one of those 20 temple guard (I like them 6x4, decent frontage but still max rank bonus). And if someone tries to tarpit, you just crack out the halberds and start blending with your 12 S5 WS4 attacks and respectable +5 CR: 3 ranks, bsb and standard. Usually outnumber too, at US23 for +6 before anyone fights. Granted, the unit is in the 700 point ballpark, but it's also a GREAT VP sink as well as a decent anchor/caster combo.

fun note about the cube of darkness, I've used it to great effect in many places, if you get lucky enough for it's 4+ effect to go off, ending the magic phase. Try it out if you can catch a dark elf sorceress with her extra power of darkness dice, I've made some pretty expensive casters blow up because they got caught with their pants down. If nothing else, it's a great tool to use on a vital phase you know you can't stop with dispels alone (or if your main source of dispel dice dies, like everyone's favorite 4 dispel dice engine of the gods).

Cube of darkness on a skink priest with Mark of the old ones was one of the funnest combos in the old lizardmen list vs Dark Elves and VCs... it had a 75% chance of crippling them for a crucial magic phase.

Still is sort of expensive but was probably will run him alone with 1 Engine so will have a dispel scroll and diadem on the engine also so the only 1 cube on him would be ok.

It hugely depends on whether you're running him with Temple Guard or not. If you are, then the Ethereal one is a waste. If not, take that plus the 2+ ward save vs. ranged item.

The extra power dice discipline is really good, but make sure you're planning on using a lore with a lot of spells that are worth casting, since it works best for spamming lots of little spells. (You can easily cast 3-4 Fire spells a turn, for example.) Not as good with single big spells, you could take several Ixti Grubs instead.
