Anyhow, yeah... um.
Havent played 40k in ages, still maintain my interest in it. CBF playing games now but i do model/paint a bit. Admittedly not very well though.
Love guard, they look the best. Hate the new single-squad bull packs GW released, i mean, c'mon.
Have SOME marines, around 1k worth. Wish i had more so i could play games and NOT loose... but yeah.

So the being in the Aus army is a good job,hows the pay?

Not in the army just yet... cadet corps actually.
Essentially, we play soldier one night a week.

Pay is fairly good, plus a shedload of allowances, and consessions for meals ect if you live on base, which everyone does.

Don't your army buddies(or cadet buddies,whatever you want to call 'em)laugh at you for playing with tiny plastic men?

Well i actually havent played with them for ages in a sense. Still paint em though.

Most of them think nothing of it, though they like the painting. I'm thinking of working on a squad of guard based on some of my mates, in a somewhat boyish fantasy of being in the 'real' army lol.
Never going to get round to it though.

That, and a few of em actually play it.

So what do you want to become in the army,a normal footman,a tank driver?

Nah not really... if anything it'd be a plus on the resume.

And i want to become both actually, Cavalry crosses those two equally. Tanks are fun, as is the infantry work, and therefore being in Cavalry gives you the best of both worlds.

Um... well as a Defence Force, it's never had to counter a threat since WW2... Australia has never been 'defended' on our own shores, though we did come close many times (Papua New Guinea almost fell).

Um... well currently there are multiple deployments, the two biggest being obviously Iraq and Afghanistan, with a recent troop increase to 1500 in Afghanistan, and currently withdrawing from Iraq.

Also there are peacekeeping operations in Timor, and the Solomon Islands, and a few other locations around the world that i probably couldnt remember.
the ADF also sends personnell to allied countries for cross-training, and also the Americans often send over something like 20,000 troops every few years for some fairly large training exercises.

Basically, if the US goes somewhere, we follow with a token support. The ADF is quite small, with a total count of ALL reservists and Regular service personnell under 45,000 for the army, that includes support infantry, brigade commanders, ect, ie: EVERYONE in the army.
