Definitely wasp-like, however unless you're going for speed might I recommend doing the mouth piece in a different colour? Maybe a blue of some kind? Just to draw attention to the nasty bits ^_^

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.

i agree, while the painting is good and its a nice scheme it could do with something that stands out. its a tad plain. Overall though its good, better than anything i could do

I like the color scheme as well. I wouldn't say wasp, but it is definately a natural animalistic tone that you could readily find on tropical frogs here on earth. For this reason I like it alot more than the Raindow nids.

At first I was thinking that the bright yellow highlight used on the edges could be toned down a little or have a bit of a gradient buildup...but then I think you would lose part of the dynamic of the patterns.

I agree that the tenticles should be painted a different color but I don't think blue would be a good color as it would be too sharp a contrast and gets back to the "rainbow nids" scheme that you are trying to avoid. Maybe you could experiment with either a charred brown worked up to burnt red (brownish red) or dark red with a bit of violet mixed in. The darker reds (not bright reds or oranges) will complement the deeper ochres of your model IMHO. You can check out the skin tones on my biovores for an example of the "burnt red" or the big sacs on my albino's barbed strangler for an example of a "redish purple".

Ditto, ditto, ditto and ditto! While it may not be exactly "Wasp/Bee/Hornet like" the scheme is such that it reminds me (and probably others) of a big scary, stinging bug. Well done!!! It stands out and is unique! Also a very natural looking scheme.

As for the mouth bits? What about a shiny blue/black, also similar to real bugs. Just some thoughts.

i like the paint scheme its very good but i think that if you did the tenticles either gore red or vermin brown toned down with bleach bone white it would look more edgy or you cold use black and tone it up to make it pop more

Yep Definately Tree Frog

Now after viewing the frogs, I wonder if the tenticles might not look better in more of a tan worked up to Bleached Bone?
