I could use some advice on my camouflage color scheme. Here's my test model:

I'm trying to go for a Mars-style red planet death world, and there really aren't any examples of martian camo anywhere. Should I go with darker grey splotches? Different color base? I really wish I picked a model with a jacket so I could see more camo on the model though.

I'd use a darker shade of gray, against a red environment gray in your cammo would represent shadows. You could also use a darker orange color if you want a lighter color in the mix.

Something similiar to this might work well

Ok, I tried the martian camouflage again, but I think it's even worse now:

I used the red, orange, and a darker grey than last time. The orange is almost invisible - it almost blends too nicely. It doesn't help that I was sloppy as feth with his shirt, either. Any ideas?

Not a fan of the Grey. I would try brown with the reds as they grey makes them look like they are going for a fashion statement....

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

Try using the Macharius Solar Orange foundation paint as a base then go over it with Fiery Orange slowly layered up with lighter shades. Sounds challenging to me.

The grey on the mech looks to be something similar to a Panzer Grey.

Well for realism you could just go with US Desert Camo and maybe slip in a light pink for one of the tans. For something more dramatic...

Here's GW's Mars Camo pattern...

Oh and if you're going for a dramatic looking model, its actually better for your colors/shades to contrast more than real camo. It just depends on the look you're going for.
