So I've been looking around the interwebz for a model that might fit as a completely new and radical type of battlesuit. So I stumble amongst the amazing Armored Core models and stare in awe. And then it occurs to me that perhaps a four legged battlesuit might work pretty well to stray away from the more "typical", type of Tau battlesuits. So I find this one. ((Below))

So I got to thinking, put some fusion blasters on this monster, or some railguns and we might have a...DARE I SAY IT...WALKER for the Tau. IT stands 5 1/2" high, and comes with 500 pieces. What do you guys think?

if that is 5 1/2" high then i'd say throw some more thrusters on it so it can believably hover and call it a hammerhead. that model's footprint looks way too big to be a simple crisis suit.

I love Kotobukiya's Variable Infinity series. I have the Dualface and Aaliyah models, beautiful kits. The only problem with them is that they're way too big for 40k. I'd even go as far to say that calling it a hammerhead wouldn't work.

They're beautiful kits, and if someone threw one on the table, the Raven in me (RAVEN, not Lynx, RAVEN!) would squeal in happiness, but... it's just way too big. Especially when you consider that you need a squad of them.

Funnily enough though, buying a full squad of those, despite being over 4 times the size of a crisis suit, and of much superior quality, will only cost you about twice as much. And some of the cheaper bipeds only cost 1.25 times as much.

Yeah that model looks like it will be a good base for a Tau model. It also looks easy enough to make it a Crisis suit, just have to make it slightly less bulkier than it is there I guess. Maybe a Broadside, the extra legs can be seen as a support for the Railguns and its basic design will also go with the 2+ save it has. Also I guess you could use the naming scheme they have as well. I'm not so familiar with it but the numbers are generally mass class then how far it is along in production/development, to start with I guess it could be called XV91 at the moment as it would probably be in a higher mass class than the others.

Why don’t you use Tau parts to make a Crisis Suit sized version? Use landing gear pads for the blocky angular feet, a cut down flamer and some green stuff for the leg to hip attachments, a cut down thigh for the leg body, and parts from the fusion blaster for the arms. Mind you I could be a little off on the scale\parts to use since it has been several years since I have monkied with the tau, but you can easily build a crisis suit inspired by this model that is 100% toury legal.

Heck, you also might check out Tau Online since there is quite a few crazy converters that post Tau goodness there.

Well, I was thinking of a large crisis suit, like an actual Tau WALKER ((Vehicle)), no squads here.

Ahhh, and the tau walker subject STRIKES AGAIN!!! no worries, im advocates for them having walkers, if you wanna do it go for it, personally I could see them having bipeds or quadrapeds so its up to you...

Wowzers, that would look awesome! I don't think it would be that hard either with the right parts.

BETTER YET, make a titan for your Tau! I mean, COME ON, they should have a titan, nature progression of super weapon.

You can dismiss the Gundam comments from people because they are way more like Macross. Only they can't change into planes or sing to win battles, maybe that's what the Ethereal does

About to eat your Avatar...

I think that model would work quite well. It seems to have a lot of hard edges, but nothing a bit of elbow grease and plasticard couldn't fix.

I see this as a more industrial design for the Tau, like futuristic fork-lifts. There is no reason why some skinny little Tau wouldn't strap a dozen guns onto it and go ape #$% on a swarm of orks. Hmmm.... you could tell your opponent it is a "sentinel" used to guard cities and escort high-ranking officials. Perhaps this would be a fully fitted version of a drone... yes their day has come, no longer do they hit you in the nose like a frisbee; now they throw you like a bowling ball, after sqooshing you into a crunchy-gory little clump of flesh.

Good times, run with it man!!!
