Hello, back in the day in the old, old ork codex, there was an amazing picture of a Blood Axe Warboss, leaning on one knee, smoking a cigar, with a monocle and a grot standard bearer (I think). Does anyone have this image and can they share it here or PM it to me, many thanks.

When you say old codex, do you mean Rogue Trader era?

IIRC the grot has the monocle, I'll try and dig my 2nd ed codex out.
Are we allowed to scan and post pics from the books?

Yes, or at least everybody does it.
Howabout a retro review Perplexiti? I used to have this Codex and would love to see it again.

So long as it's just the one.
You can call it research for conversion ideas. That's legit.

Obvious choice of head would be Zagstruk. Not sure about a body though. I have pondered this myself on many an occassion. The Ork tankbuster Nob has a Imperial greatcoat stretched around his torso, so you could go down that road. Swear I read some fluff about captured officers being used as advisors somewhere, so surely this is a must inclusion.

Zagstruks head would be a nice choice, but would the TB Nob be big enough to represnt a Warboss?,even a Bloodaxe Warboss?,with out a bit of "fleshing out".

Hehe, I wouldn't know where to start with a review. I've never been much of a writer.
But it surely is a great codex, so much character. I liked how the clans were more than just a paintjob, they all had their own style.
Oh, and here is the pic. I love Mark Gibbons artworks, he did loads of stuff in 2nd ed. His Space Wolf stuff is great as well.

Why did they never produce a mini for this? It just cries out to be realised as a model. In the admittedly not very likely circumstances that GW give me a job as a games designer in time to write the next Ork Codex, I shall write rules for a Blood Axe Warboss special character just so they have to make the miniature.
Ghazghul is about the only clan specific Warboss they've ever done. Oh and Nazdreg which they released just before 2nd Edition went out of date and they changed the basic Ork design (duh!).

No worries MeanGreenStompa.
@ Flashman, for sure right? It's almost criminal that they didn't make one for it.
I didn't know they released Nazdreg, he was my fav character in that book.

Well, Ork minis (and GW minis in general) went through a real cartoony phase around that era. It's probably a mercy that they didn't- but it's BEGGING for one now. I've got a friend on here, Nathonicus, who enjoys sculpting commisar-looking Orks, although in a less GW style. Maybe he would model up something like this.
Man, that grot with the monocle and swagger-stick just kills me. I can hear the shrill Col. Klink voice now!

Thinking about it, they did, after a fashion, his pose is certainly the inspiration for the Blood Axe Kommando Nob with the PK.

I have an RT Hopsplat Gun that came with an Ork wearing a slouch hat in a crouching position just like that. I always wanted to model a cigar to put in his mouth and put his Captain Morgan leg on top of a body of an IG trooper or SM instead of a rock.

I thought this guy looked familiar and it's because I used to own him. I'm pretty sure that's him down at the bottom, on the left, just sans the great coat and cigar...

I've got Nathonicus' Ork Commisar and it's great work - not quite the same theme as this guy, but still impressive. He'd make a good Blood Axe Warboss.
