Hey everyone! Who's attending this event? Sprecht lauter!
This will be my first Games Day, even though I was a redshirt in Canada for 3 years (what? I live on the west coast... It's a big country). I'm currently on exchange in Germany, and so I thought: "why not go to this Games Day?"
I have some questions for those that are Games Day vets: How early should I show up? The event starts at 9. Is there anything I should do first? What fills up quickest? How easy is it to get in line to see the live guests? (Dan Abnett and Phil Kelley, this year... I'm pretty psyched)
Anyways, I'm really excited. Being in Europe this year has also given me the opportunity to go to the HQ in Nottingham for the first time. It felt like a pilgrimage. I even saw John Blanche milling about.
Any help to the questions is greatly appreciated.
Tschüss!

Didn't you get the memo? The German goverment has decided that it promotes violence and turns kids into psychopaths, so to protect the children, they've banned it and you have to illegally meet in a dark alley for Games Day now.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

When and where is it taking place? I haven't really stayed up to date with GW events for...well, years.

OK I give up - after not finding the date after many different google searches, I'm reduced to 2nding that question.
When the hell is it? >_<
Btw @ Cheese, I really hope that's a reference to how they banned the Intel Friday Night Games (err, something like that, I forget the name), and that they aren't actually stupid enough to ban a model-convention.
Then again.. banning a videogame show is pretty much just as slowed..

In order for Flachzange's link to work you have to have your GW site set to German... I really don't like the new website...
It's August 16th in Köln starts around 9 and goes to 19, I think. I bought my ticket at the Freiburg GW. They're available at all GWs.

Thanks - and I agree, the new GW site is a pile of crap >_< All flash, no substance, and slow :( I mean, their damned search function only works half the time (IF that).

Ever since reading Michael Moorcock's HAWKMOON series, I've always thought that was a great sounding (and looking) name for a city: Köln!
Enjoy your time there, and let us know how the show goes!

What happened to the GW site where you can find like scenarios and army list PDFs and terrain building advice and such?

You can still find the articles and stuff (I believe), they're just hidden in the massive cataloge, that is the GW website...
Here's a link to one (Make sure to set your country first).
I'm excited to go to Köln (it does have a cool name. It's cooler in German that it is in English (Cologne)), as in the 10 months I've been in Germany, I haven't been there yet. I've also not gotten much gaming in as all my figs are in Canada. However, I'm gonna game like a banshee here (I just hope my German's up to speed). I'm gonna try and get Dan Abnett to sign a copy of 2000AD for me, and tell Phil Kelly how much I appreciate the Warriors of Chaos and Eldar books.
And (credit card permitting) pick up some Death Corps.
