So, a freind of mine had his Apt broken into last night, and along with his xbox 360, his khorne 40k army was grabbed. Probly because its in a pistol case.

Anyhow, if anyone sees a decent sized berzerker army with some conversions made out of the previous editions of chaos warriors(all unpainted), could you please send me the link for it? If I find someone selling it we can alert the authorities and hopefully catch the turds that stole it.

If theres a thread better than this to post this sort of announcement, please let me know (or Mods feel free to move it)- just seemed like a good spot since people lookin for stuff might have the best chance of spotting it if it goes up for sale.

I have a decent start for a space marine army......it will need some conversion to make it Chaos though.....

Since he is in a bad way PM me and we can talk about it a bit more....

k try this:

street name / city name / state / especially postal code

Pictures of the army if painted.
General army list of contents.

This will easier help identify the item if its been auctioned.

Luna, it happened in Phoenix, so the street and city name wont help too much as with 6 million+ people and several seperate municipalities and zip codes it could pop up under a dozen or more.

He didnt have any pics, and Im going through my old game pics to see if I have any of his army that are helpful. Its pretty much jsut an unpainted 'zerker(like 80 zerkers) army with fantasy bitz for some conversions and a couple old rhinos.

I really doubt that whoever took it knows what it is, I figure they saw a pistol case and grabbed it- and probly had a WTF moment when they opened it and found lil men.

Stonedog, thank you for the offer, but hopefully we'll recover his stuff soon. If not I'll give him an army of mine to 'borrow'.

Yes, oh to have been a fly on the wall when that happened.

I would try looking in nearby dumpsters as I doubt they took it far before checking what was inside.

I would imagine the uninitiated thief probably tossed them in the dumpster, maybe gave them to a young cousin or something.

Most people wouldn't imagine that ounce for ounce the little plastic men are as valuable as heroin. (Disclaimer - no I have no idea the cost of an ounce of heroin, it was a joke).

Bummer for your friend though :( I'll keep an eye out when I'm ebaying.

Jesus, when will people learn not to NOT store their models in a rifle/pistol case. I've heard this same story, at least 4 times already.

it doesn't matter really what case you use. I've heard of GW hard cases been mistaken for tools and stolen. almost any other mini case looks very similar to camera cases and the such.
if the somehow the thief new what he had most peoples army's can be worth more or as much as tools and cameras anyhow.

We're hoping they trip and fall throat first on the bloodthirsters axe.

But he checked out the alleys/dumpsters/bushes all around his complex and didnt find anything. So, theyre probly gone somewhere, and unless the retards post them on craigslist or ebay they're probly gone for good.

I hate to say this but check your FRIENDS and acquaintances. Even the most unsuspecting.

Are the 360 and the Gun case the ONLY missing things?

If so, it may have been someone he knew most likely or knew him through someone.

Thieves will trash kitchens, closets, steal anything not nailed down. Even TVs, DVD players and stereos for cash.

If they stole a 360 in its entirety, they knew why they were in there.

Was the Gun case of minis in sight of the 360? If so, that actually may have been an accidental theft/ grab&dash.

This happened to me twice in Vegas.

BIG difference between random thief/thieves and acquaintances. I saw both.

In my case, random thief trashed house and made off with electronics out of 'gaming room'.

In the case of the 'acquaintance' since real friends wouldn't dare, my girlfriend found her 40k army in Reno. Sleazed up to the guy and had him arrested while they were having coffee together.

He was someone we went clubbing with in Vegas and he grabbed my girlfriend's Slaanesh Army & case out of my living room when he went home along with my wallet and some jewelry she took off that night.

I could be wrong but I would rather see your friend get his army and 360 replaced. Mainly the Chaos Army as I know you can replace a 360 a 'little' easier.

Hope this helps.

Lictor...

When someone makes an affordable mini transport case, people will stop using cheaper alternatives. I can store 6 Carnifexes in a dual pistol that I got for less than $20. The FOAM for a GW case would have cost me more, then the case is another what, $50?

I have a rifle case that holds 80% of the rest of my 'Nids. They don't even FIT in GW cases, so why waste more than $200 for cases to fit them all when I got a case for $15? It is the same foam, and the same type of plastic for the case. Just for 10% of the cost.

The better question is, why do people buy GW/Sabol cases?

Sorry for the OT, I'll look for the army in any way I can.

Any sort of miniatures case will get stolen by a snatch-and-run housebreaker.

It's small, it's easily portable, and only stuff of value is stored in cases. It's completely irrelevant whether or not it's a niche item, it's going to get grabbed. If you really want to protect your minis, buy a house safe or store them in a locked display cabinet.

You really aren't blaming the victim for the fact this is property was stolen are you?

It doesn't matter what he stored his army in - the fact is that his residence was broken in to and a thief proceeded to make off with the victim's property.

But I guess it's the victim's fault he was robbed?

Just like how pretty women are "asking" to get raped?

You should be ashamed of your statement.

Indeed, I don't think it matters what fething case they were in, the thief could have easily made off with it regardless. Very stupid, very insensitive comment to make, you really should be ashamed.

I have to agree with the acquaintance theory. Even though they're little plastic men (and women with long crab claws) most people don't know what the value of something like that is unless they've been told or know.

could look in the fleemarket .... most thiefs , my guess is that they would think they are just little pewter man. hell, before i started this game i would have thought those pewter figures would be worthless and just kept the case trashed the rest.

Craigslist and the local clubs. The thief (perhaps acquaintance) would be looking to unload whatever they found. Since a 360 can bring in cash quickly whether it be pawn shop, craiglist, or random dude on the street, they may also try to unload the minis.

Was the rest of the place trashed or were these the only items missing?

Sorry to hear about what happened.

Im former Law enforcement, so we have the basics covered. Just wanted to put out a heads up online as a couple dozens sets of eyes on the internet are far better than just 2

I do appreciate the input though, and hopefully the stuff thats posted here can help anyone else unfortunate enough to have this happen.

And the place had been gone through, but quick and sloppy. They didnt take anything big or heavy, like his desktop PC (which is an uber overclocked gaming rig) or even the xbox's power supply. So, just looks like a sloppy smash & grab deal.

Damn, thieves are dumb as crap. My rifle case full of plastic tyranids weighs LESS than my pistol case full of pistol. They if anything they should've grabbed the case thought hey this is kinda light and figured the gun wasn't in it or something else was, opened it and then in frustration threw the zerkers across the room, all while thinking where the hell did I just break into?

Of course if someone broke into my place they'd prolly think they hit gun heaven only to later find out I have an extensive collection of airsoft guns that look and feel real.

Anyway sorry about the loss. Try pawn shops around the area. My friend found his $900.00 RC rock crawler at one 2 blocks from his house the next day.

perhaps in the future get renters insurance to cover your minis? I know it doesn't help after the fact, but there ARE policies that we can get that will cover our 'little green men'.
