Together as a color scheme for an army.
Pink and brown. More pink than brown and I'm not sure what shade of brown. I'm going to try an online painter thingy when I get to work.
Just wondering if anyone's tried it before or how the 6 of you that haven't put me on ignore think it might look. Pink and grey go awesomely together, but brown... I'm not so sure about.

Thoughts?

But other than that it would be a unique color scheme and stand out.

I think it would go together famously. My baby girls first diaper bag set was brown and pink. It goes very well together. What are you planning on painting like this?

Funniest thing I've read in a VERY long time. Holy s***...

I'm thinking a small Marine force just to use all these jerkasses I have laying around. Stupid Marines.
I came up with a stupid name for a chapter that I like and the only colors that would make sense are pink and brown. Plus, pink Marines? Totally...

Dunno, dude. I think that's going to be hard to do. Maybe if it were a dusty pink like a salmon or coral and it were used sparingly. The only way to find out is to paint up a test subject and post it for our amuse... er, I mean, critique.

I hate that I know this, but recent fashion trends have used a brown/pink color combo - usually for bags, dresses, and accessories. The wife sports a brown bag with pink polka dots that actually looks nice.

On marines though... I dunno. I'd like to see the pic too but I've got the red x as well. Hosting on Dakka?

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

SO....these are all marines that are fighting to hold the LAST KNOWN Baskin & Robbins ice cream parlour in the known universe?

apparently, the secret to making ice cream is a lost technology, and even suggesting they recreate such a recipe borders on heresy.

I can't honesty say I like this paint scheme... makes them look quite pansy. Pink armor for Orks and Demons, that is about it; yes pink Orks kick too much @#$.

If you like it go for it, but I would be blinded by the sheer metro-sexuality of it all.

"Note"
Only business men with BALLS, and 10 year old girls can truly pull of this scheme... oh, and the Sisters of Wedding of course .

I think it can work:

However , it'll need a very sharp contrast of white somewhere ( hair if not bald and screaming / cape / tabard / insignias )

How about this:

I've reversed the color values, going from a cool pink to a warm pink and vice versa on the brown. Wasn't there a guy named Clouseau that made Pink Panther Marines a while back?

Pink and brown are analogous so they should go together okay but, why?

Then again, they'll certainly be unique B&R Marines from the 31st Founding.

Also, (seriously) think about an aquamarine or turquoise highlight for split complements.

I know it's more than likely just the shading inherent in that army painter, but that pink looks more red to me. I don't want cartoony, but I do want there to be no mistake that it is, in fact, pink.

GoFenris wrote:Pink and brown are analogous so they should go together okay but, why?
Because the world *needs* another Ultramarines army...

GoFenris wrote:Then again, they'll certainly be unique B&R Marines from the 31st Founding.
Exactly.

LunaHound wrote:

I agree, Luna. That is a really nice-looking model, but it's way too cartoony for me. I don't want a blatant, in-your-face pink, but just a normal, everyday pink.

I am going for a 'storybook pigskin' color. Like, the stereotypical pig. Wilbur and all that. Ask a 10 yr. old to color a picture of a pig for you and that is what I am going for. A nice, soft, lighter-hued pink that will highlight very subtly and a nice brown to offset it. As far as tie in colors go, that will be the yellow/orange like the little sun on the shoulder of my example. This will be a VERY small Marine force with VERY few models in it. 1500 points, TOPS. I am basically just looking for something to do with the smattering of Marines I have acquired over the years. I'm going to sell off the bulk of them, but keep some that I like for whatever reasons.
