Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

So, I am having troubles deciding on an army for 'Ardboyz.

I have several armies, and I have thought about using all of them at one time or another. So now that the tournament draws nigh, I have it down to 2 armies. I am appealing to the Dakka Community to pick the one that I will play on Saturday.

The choices are:
Foot horde Eldar with War Walkers

Scout heavy Mech Space Wolves.

So which one should I pick?

Wow. Dakka's not being especially helpful - 5-6 and pick 'em right now.

I think you should take Wolves, now that the 2nd scenario is a little less KP-crazy for them. It'll keep things interesting for everyone else, as plenty o' scouts force a lot of armies to play outside their comfort zone.

With my Space Wolves which I have not played in over 10 years and I was really rusty and it showed.

Game #1 was against a Space Wolf player who actually know how to play Space Wolves and I managed a tie.

Game #2 was against a Chaos army and I got 3 more kill points than him, but that still equals a tie.

Game #3 was against a marine player that was light in the troops department and so my 2 scout squads took out his 2, 10-man tac squads and then all I had to do was blow up his land raider that was parked on an objective. So after several rounds of lascannons and melta shots it survived the game and so I tied again.

'Ard Boyz tournament #2

The idea of this list started when the Eldar codex first came out. I was trying to think of lists that no one was trying at the time and I came up with a MSV (Multiple Small Vehicle) list that had a lot of Vypers and War Walkers in it. I tested the idea in a few tournaments and I could only win about half of my games which is not good enough. There were several reasons for my poor showing. 4th edition was hard on my list because vehicles are not as durable as they are now, and not only because of the vehicle damage table, but because of the things like tank hunting auto-canons. So with the recent reduction in heavy weapons and a lot of people leaning toward assault armies I thought I would try my MSV list again.

My list:
HQ:
Eldrad

5 Harlequins w/Kisses and 2 Fusion pistols
Shadow Seer w/Kiss
Troupe Leader w/Power Weapon

15 Storm Guardians w/2 Fusion Guns

9 Warp Spiders
Warp Spider Exarch w/ Dual Spinners and Withdrawal

2 Vypers w/Bright lance
2 Vypers w/Missile Launchers

3 War Walkers 2 w/Scatter Lasers, 1 w/Star Canons

Game #1
I was matched up against a Dark Eldar army with a million Raiders and Dark Lances. I basically shot the raiders down with relative ease. He hit my guardian wall with a couple of squads and they would die, and then he would get shot to death. At the end of the game he hid some of his raiders and was able to contest a lot of objectives, but I had him on kill points so a minor win for me.

Game #2
I played against a Mech Black Templar player. I was pleased when I found out that he did not buy blessed hull, but as it turned out, I should not have been. I moved my units around and I shuffled enough so that he could not hit me with his whole army at once, and just hit me with one or two units at a time. He would assault a guardian squad and wipe it out, and then he would get shot off of the board. I ended up getting 16 kill points to his 12 and I earned a minor win. Oh, and he brought 2 Land Raider Crusaders and I hit them with a ton of bright lance shots, fusion guns, fusion pistols, wailing doom, and had the avatar beat on one for 2 turns and they both survived. If I could have killed one or two I would have had a major victory or a massacre.

Game #3
I played against a SoB army. He had about 75 models, so we both had a lot of guys. It started off bad for me because his Exorcists were doing a number on my War Walkers, and I was getting shot up pretty bad. But once I was able to start slowing down those exorcists, it got much better. We only got to turn #4 and I ended up with a major loss. If the game went for one more turn I would have gotten a massacre. He had 2 SoB squads on one objective that I was shooting at with my War Walkers for 2 turns and I had killed one squad, and had the other down to 1 sister, and I had 2 guardian squads ready to take it. The other objective had an irresistible force of my Avatar, Eldrad, Harlequins, and my Warp Spiders headed to it that would have reached in the next turn and crushed anything on it. Oh well.

I was pleased how the list worked. Most of the time I would get assaulted and my guardians would take huge casualties, and then because they were fearless they would all die. That would leave the assaulting units out in the open to get shot to death, and the time where they were able to stay in combat the harlequins and the Avatar would make short work of them.
