So, I've never played nids(helping a friend start and army of them), but how hard is it to keep the "lesser" creatures in synapse range(the army has 32 guants, 8 stealers, 1 carni, 1 tyrant, 6 warriors)
If this is the wrong section will the mods please move it, thanks

Well, it really depends. If you have fast units, then you want to make sure you also have either a speedy, or forward placed synapse unit that can keep up with it. If your tyrant is built to stand back and shoot, it's probably not going to be keeping up with a wave of spinegaunts. You also want to make sure you have a certain amount of redundancy in your coverage, so that using one synapse unit doesn't cause an entire flank to collapse.

So, for a horde list, (termaguants, spineguants) you would need warriors or a tyrant to be right behind them

lol Don't run a hoard list...I tried forever to get it to work and never had any success...though I understand the model constraints.
Keeping them in range isn't ever a problem for me its keeping the synapse alive. With only 6 warriors and 1 Hive Tyrant there to support them it could be easy to pick out what to shoot at for most people.

You need a lot of synapse. I hamstrung a 'nid army first turn by deep striking Sternguard next to their Warriors, who were the chief source of synapse in their army. I felt like a real jerk for doing it.

You were doing them a favour showing them a glaring weakness which they need to cover or have exploited
