Anyone got any idea when it will be released?

I think somewhere said by the end of July!

Seriously, add a question mark to your title. It's considered rude to imply that you have information, only to find you're looking for it.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

What is army builder anyway? Sounds like overly complicated points calculation software. Do people not just use Excel?

I don't use Army Builder (Mainly because it's Windows only, and I don't think the interface is really that good.) but I understand the value.

Excel does the math for you. It doesn't validate, it doesn't make the list look pretty, etc. You have to essentially 'teach' Excel about an army list, and it's often an ugly process.

AB can make a list that looks good, has the appropriate level of detail, and can validate things like obeying FO charts and such.

(OK, the FO rules for 40k aren't too tricky generally, but the equivalent in Heavy gear Blitz can be, as there's different 'charts' for each PL (Priority Level)...)

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

Flashman, I fixed the triple-post problem. Wierd.

I bought Army Builder because I'm a lazy sod who can afford to chuck money at the problem. It's gotten bad enough that I almost consider mocking up army lists to be a small hobby in itself.

ALSO, the point of this thread is WHEN, not IS IT WORTH IT?

STAY on topic.
