The aim of this thread is simple, to establish how far an army/model can go without being offensive.
Inspired by another dakka poster and friend i decided to make a suitibly insane/disturbed counts as rokkit launcha boy for my zork army without actually using a rokkit launcha... Thus Ugmed the undead (also named by the previously mentioned poster) was born, a zork suicide bomber.

Now to continue the theme i am most likely to add a turban and beard to said zombie ork however when i considered this i realised how fine a line models walk apon, slaaneshi S&M or other suitibly sexual concept based models are an example of this as are ww2 german or russian themed armies and so are muslim extremist style terrorist themed models/armies (like my very own Ugmed the undead).

So my fellow dakkites, how far is too far?

Forever alone

I think your idea of a Taliban Suicide Ork is going too far, man. Now, that Slaaneshi Soulgrinder from a while ago... I think that could have been more tasteful than a crudely shaped stick of GS and a pair of daemonic gonads stuck to a Soulgrinder.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

the latter is very true... he could have at least made it into a gun of some kind
the former comment i also take into account however may or may not be followed, what is life without breaking rules?

Why?

I'm sure terrorists wouldn't give two hoots about what you made your little plastic men look like. Similarly why should anyone else. They are only plastic figures after all.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Because it's like, offensive... and stuff.

TBH, the same people who get annoyed are the same people who get annoyed that people play the Germans in FoW.

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

I usually find that gamers are very respectful of others but still make fun of stereotypes anyway. Non of the other gamers are offended, even if it is their ethnic group that is being picked on. they tend to know that no harm is meant.

My example is the middle eastern tallarn player shouting "for the Empallah!"

Congratulations, that was the stupidest remark the entire wargaming community has managed to produce in a long, long time.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

This thread will only end badly. What's borderline for some is offensive to others (I saw an army that was WWII German-themed, but one of the Sentinels had "Arbeit macht Frei" on the front. Got his dumb ass banned from the game store).

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
