Love him or hate him, Gwar has become the poster on dakka taking the unoffical duty of answering rules queries.

Now the time is close for the next INAT FAQ and while it originated on Dakka, Adepticon adopted it and contributed it. Is it time for further expansion and to have a different perspective say from Ireland?

I'd imagine that group looks for rules-minded folks with a more... erm... "cordial" nature than Gwar! brings to the table.

Also, the INAT FAQ is designed to make the game more playable, eschewing a fanatic devotion to RAW when RAI/RAP makes for a more balanced/fun game.

And Gwar! is nothing if not an advocate for the strictest of RAW approaches to gaming.

Would Gwar! replace someone currently on the council or, if granted, will Gwar!'s position be a new one?

I think Gwar would be a good "consultant" (not on the board) simply because he seems to know every inconsistency in the rules. I'm not saying they should agree with him... just use him to point out the stuff they need to FAQ. I mean look at the Spearhead thread going on now: How many people actually question the deployment zones?

I think that's exactly what isn't needed for an FAQ though-- finding the tiniest possible misconceptions and then addressing them with full merit.

FAQs should be just that-- FREQUENTLY Asked Questions. Finding little nit-picks from one edition to the next and then zealously defending them as RAW seems like it might not best serve the goal of such an endeavor-- streamlining rules and clarifying points of contention, not creating them.

I would have to say no. I would hate the game of 40k if Gwar's interpretations were ever to become official. The game would be unplayable and you would need some type of degree just to interpret the rules. RAW to the point of silly is just not my cup of tea.

While I respect his grasp of the technical side of the English language, I often feel no one is further from the spirit of the GAME on dakka then Gwar. Its like the obvious joke that every one gets but the one guy scratching his head in the back. No amount of intelligence will ever make up for a dash of common in most situations. Just my opinion anyway. Putting him or any RAW worshiper on the council would be a mistake.

He would be a great person to ask questions and force them to answer them however. Nothing personal Gwar but not every one is cut out for everything.

Just my 2 cents...

How should a person become part of a FAQ council, if that said person refuses to accept FAQ's as official?

I think it would not benefit the INAT faq if the discussion isnt aimed at a solution for a problem.

A bit off-topic here, but it would be related to if he should be on the "council" or not, but does anybody know if Gwar! actually PLAYS 40k? I see him posting 24/7 (well minus a bit of time for eating/sleeping) but does anyone know how much he plays (and how "rules lawyering") in real life?

I agree with this Idea. Even the Catholic Church has someone as the Devils Advocate, so I would gladly fill this role.
