I have just discovered the game of Epic and have bought some figures and the rules (several editions). A couple of questions please. In any tournaments what armies are still legal. In the older rules there are Squats but they are OOP now so I did not know if say just the main ones like Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Orks, Eldar and Tyranids were the basic ones. What is the size of a tournament army and where would I get the rules if there are any specifically for tournament play? Also is there weaponry/ vehicles that are not allowed in tournament play which say just may be very OOP so it is not used anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also being a newbie I saw out on an auction site the Warmonger, Imperial Imperator and the Warlord Mk 3 and they looked very cool. So my quest is to now at least get one of each of them. So if you have one or you can find me one of each of these I would being willing to buy them. I would prefer unpainted since I am going to paint up my own armies but beggars cannot be choosers.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Epic is a great game, but poorly suited to balanced play. I don't believe there are tournaments run on any large scale anywhere that I know of.

To quote the last Standard Bearer, it's sort of a 'Battle Challenge' sort of game, on an epic scale... like Flames of War, except that there are beards attached to necks that actually try to tourney-play that one.

I think you mean Apocalypse. Epic is very well balanced.

There Epic rulebook contains the GT scenario, and is free to download on the GW website. It contains all the rules for 'counts as' for OOP vehicles, although everyone I know is fairly liberal in what counts as what, since GW stopped supporting the game in favour of selling more 40k Baneblades.

The main Epic website is down at the moment, but warseer has a reasonably active Epic forum

Almost sure Adepticon has an Epic Tournament? Could have sworn I saw an Epic FAQ on their website at least.

Actually there are many Epic Tournaments out in the right areas and it is a balance game not like that 40k game with large tanks push together with skirmish size forces. Over at Tac Comms there is Sub Forum to post upcoming Tournaments and also very nice Titian List

Everything went downhill for Epic with the release of the Third Edition, personally i like 2nd edition, it was balanced and fun to play. My group is playing NetEpic 5th Edition (based heavily on GW 2nd Edition but includes the 'new' armies Tau, Necron etc etc) .

When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' 'ummie body. Da smell, you know dat gasoline smell, da whole hill. Smelled like... victory."

Truer words were never spoken!

I still have nightmares of Titan Weapons being reduced from their crazy variety to "Guns" and "Big Guns"...

<<shudder>>

That was it for Epic for me, sadly...

And GW too, apparently!
