What's you thoughts on the above poll?

I personally am in mourning over the loss of the Leman Russ in the wolves books, and the extra models I now have kicking around... what do you guys think about using them as stand ins?
Do you think the size variance is too much to be used as Preds/Vindicators?

I'd only allow the Exterminator to be used as a Predator.

Though what we really need is a wolf, with 6 Lascannons on it and 3 Long Fangs

I actually am in a similar situation. I ended up removing the hull HB and now I have a very tall predator with AC (Vestigial second AC is for show on the turret) and 2 HB sponsons.
It was such an awesome looking model though, that I couldn't bear to part with it. (Has a SW char coming out the top turret firing his bolter and such.)

Sounds fine to me. As long as the guns look the part!

Personally, in friendly games I'd allow you to just continue using them as Russes...

I spotted heroscape tiles. One of my friends has a lot of heroscape stuff and we have used the tiles for terain at his place on occassion.

Heh. Yeah, we have a table at our house and we've been screwing around with random stuff for terrain. So far the heroscape hasn't been used, but I looked at it and wondered why today.

On second thought, when could SW have LR Demolishers? I just checked my 3rd codex and it only says Exterminators.

Only your Exterminator can be used. Trying anything else bespeaks ill of how you came to be playing Russ's Chosen Warriors.

I don't like the size difference, so I voted No to both. That being said, in a friendly game I wouldn't care. At a tournament its a different story however.

I'll have to take some pictures for size comparison between the Exterminator and the Pred Dakka. It's not that big a difference. There's a similar difference between old style Dakka Pred and New Style Dakka pred. Would you stop someone from using old style?

I would allow both. It would be nice if all models matched exactly what they are supposed to be but that is just not always economically feasible.

I would allow both, I think some people might not undeerstand But What I think the OP is saying is he would use his demolisher with the rules of a vindy and the exterminator as a pred.

I would let you use both, what ever size difference would not be that great an advantage or disadvantage. BUT then I play wolves so I feel your pain

This is exactly it.

I'm glad to see a lot of posts in here regardless of disagreements or what not.

I love the active community here.

For friendly games I would not mind as long as we discussed the "counts as" substitutions before hand and you were consistent.

For tournaments you'd be gambling that your opponent would be understanding and the Tournament Organizer would allow them. Not a sure bet.

Any problem with them I might have would not be around size issues as I don't think they are much of an issue. It's more around looking at something that I think of as AV14 and it not being that. It's just a little confusing. Not a dealbreaker though.
