I've just received my order of Baccus's excellent 6mm "Early Imperial Roman DBA Army Pack for 25mm Ground Scale", so I've written up a "First Look" article of it.

http://www.maxahn.com/2009/11/first-look-baccus-dba-eir-25gs/

Hope this would give a good idea of what to expect when you buy one of these army packs!

I'll follow up with a review once I get these little guys painted.

They look pretty good.

What does the 25mm stand for if they are 6mm?

Somewhere in south-central England.

In Ancients rules the figures are stuck onto rectangular bases to form blocks, normally three or four figures per block

If you use 25mm figures the bases are usually 60mm wide and 20mm deep for infantry.

The Baccus concept is to use lots of 6mm figures on the 25mm base size so you get a really impressive looking block. It makes a block look like a real cohort.

In the DBA rules the block (an element) is the basic unit and the number of figures on it does not matter. You just play the game according to the distances given for 25mm.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Got it now. Thanks.

Its the same idea my friends were talking about for Field of Glory.
Using the 25mm model bases and putting 15mm figs on them. Or even 6s.

Oops. I had written up the article under the wrong assumption that anyone reading it would be familiar with DBA.

I've edited to post to include this information.

I've done something similar with my Napoleonics, using 10mm for Napoleon's battles. The stands look more realistic at a smaller scale on a large base.
