Should start off that I won't be playing absolutely cuthrought players with this list, with that out of the way...
So i know i have so little magic defense (5dd + scroll) but i wanted all of the extra units and I was able to get another saurus unit by dropping some models.
My big saurus unit is going to be tough to break with bsb and now immunity to fear. The 12 units of 12 are reasonably deadly but its always nice to try to get a charge on a flank. Carnosaur is a great infantry killer, but also needs to go on flank (tempted to give blade of realities as i have a lot of infantry killers what do you think?). Salamanders go on flanks of my force and try to shoot flames at the enemy. Terradons are warmachine hunting/mage hunting depending on my need.
Skinks are screening the carnosaur for sure, and maybe try to spread them out to cover some of the other units. Cohorts used only to suicide and try to get a flank charge on something that i otherwise cannot handle.

One thing, i know i could probably use a Slann and it would be better but i would really prefer not to.

Anyways opinions? C&C.

My thought? Distinct lack of musicians going down, to the point that I would grind up the cohort to buy 4 saurus drums and a cold one pan flute. Then 18 points after that for random skinks - an extra for each sally, then I guess a 21st skirmisher.

Interesting i thought that musicians would be of less use for me, especially the saurus blocks as testing on ld 8 cold blooded is something like 90% chance to rally/not break on musician test. Plus with the BSB nearby i think it goes up to somewhere over 98%.

Is there any particular reason why you think its necessary?

Welllll maybe you've got something with those numbers, but I feel like the points investment to rally easier and to beat monsters / heroes / generals who skimped on musicians is so slight to be hard to argue against. I guess more theoryhammer could go on, whether 5 musicians on MSU saurus / scav units (+ wherever 18 pts goes) is worth more than 10 skinks intended to be killed diverting something (or doing other suicidal things).

Good point on the numbers though. The main upside is probably that all these units are relying on their attaks to win, and the musician essentially reduces the number of wounds needed to beat a musician-less unit by 1 (which multiplies out to a lot of attaks, no matter how you run the probability).
