Hello Everyone. I am hoping of getting some Imperial Guardsmen this Christmas. However, I am not to sure what to get. I want some tanks, and also some troops too.
Help?

Troops and tanks ARE the Imperial Guard. I don't see what the problem is. Just ask for a Demolisher and a command squad.

Maybe if you suggest what you have already or what you really want? because otherwise you're basically suggesting the entire imperial guard range...
Also, consider FW.

Okay, lets see.
I like the Executioner, and Artillery. FW cost too much. I dont have anything yet, so I dont really know.

If you have nothing, get a battleforce. It's got 20 troops, a command squad, 3 heavy weapons platforms and a sentinel. That and a codex should be a nice start.

Chimera (optional)
and a Leman Russ and/or Bassalisk
Hey presto, IG army!
180 2x battleforces
40 LR/ 'lisk
220-Total
About 750 points, not too shabby. Especialy if you buy from MAELSTROM GAMES.

6000 points IG, Leviathins 8th company, (store regiment) 60% painted 
4500 points Empire 80-90% painted!

WIP Biker Battle Company 95% painted
2500 Points Isstavan Drop site massacre Iron Hands (still waiting for dat codex) 
I managed to play a 1750 point game with minimal proxieing on the first day DE came out.  go me!

For troops don't forget you have a lot of options. Beside the Cadians (ug) and Catachans (double plus ug) you can use GW or other plastics with alternate heads and guns.
I have a crapton of IG and my favorites of all time are Brettonian Men at Arms with Pig Iron heads.
