Ya know, for a race that worship machines and corpses, humans seem to hate Necrons... Anyone else find this ironic.

Shhh. My common sense is tingling!

Not really Necrons aren't Grimdark AND steampunk so they only half qualify

How are necrons not grimdark? How are they steampunk?

They're VERY grimdark, but they're definitely not steampunk, which is what the guy was trying to say.

humans hate Necrons because Necrons hate all life (eg, humans).
It is a bit hard to NOT hate something that will take every chance to flay every molecule from your still living body. Although somehow the Adeptus Mechanicus manage it - till they get shot, hehe

The point of war is not to die for your country, but to the make the other bastard die for his!

I would hate something that not one of my kinsmen understood. Necrons strike without warning, their weapons disintigrating humans, molecule by molecule. They kill all that they strike and then disappear in a matter of seconds, before anything can react. Before the point being attacked can issue a distress call. Not to mention they live forever.

It's only natural to hate them.

I'm not sure that the humans worship corpses and machines (during the era of 40k), if it's true then I haven't seen any reference to it. Also, Necrons despise all life because of the Old Ones. Since the Old Ones could live long lives and the Necrons lived an average of 40 years, or something like that, they built themselves the machine things that they essentially live in, being super technologically advanced. After the Old Ones had been destroyed by the Necrons they all went to their tombs and were disturbed several thousand years later. I'm sure that the reason the Necrons are so angry is because they were woken up and didn't want to be.

I would blame the Necrons for being jerks but the humans should have definitely checked the worlds, with tombs, a lot better, instead of: "hmm what's that green glowing getting brighter and brighter in the horizon."

1. The Emperor is a rotting carcass his spirit remaining only thanks to the golden throne and the thousands of psykers being sacrificed to honor him.

2. The adeptus mechanicus revers the Omnissiah wich is basically the spirit of the machine god. There is a chism within the mechanicus where most see the Omnissiah and the Emperor as the same being. The others think the Omnissiah is it's own entity (wich it is, It's the Void Dragon, a C'Tan the Emperor defeated and imprisoned within Mars)

It was acually the C'Tan that created the Necrons when they consumed the life force and intellect of the Necrontyr. Offering them eternal life to do battle.

no, Necrons went into their tombs to wait out the last of the galaxy's lifeforms to die off due to the psyker events after the Old One's pet projects went out of control. A tomb awakens either when a strong enough psyker presence is detected or sentient life disturbs the tomb complex, thus essentially ringing the dinner bell for the Necrons to begin the Red Harvest again. This is why the Necrons are slowly waking up, each tomb is coming back online.

I'm very sure that it was the Necrons that produced the technology that allowed the C'tan to roam the galaxy after having spent much time stuck at the center of stars.
Found on page 28 of the Necron codex.

The C'Tan offered the Necrons the chance for immortality by creating the suits, the Necrontyr didn't make the suits themselves.

Alright, this is how it went down.

The Necrontyr detected the C'tan feasting upon their star. They created a suit of living metal (Necrodermis) and coaxed the C'tan into it, using some sort of "starlight bridge", or something like that. Anyway, the C'tan then offered the Necrontyr the chance to live forever and fight their enemies without fear of dying. They did this by turning the Necrontyr into a lesser form of the Necrodermis bodies that were originally given to them by the Necrontyr.

Therefore, the physical bodies of the C'tan were created by the Necrontyr.

The metallic bodies of the Necrons were created by the C'tan.

I used the prefix "necro" at least eight times in that paragraph. Ugh.

Also, I think the old ones were (nearly) wiped out by something else, not the necrons.

sigh, read the necron codex.
Back on topic, the Techmarines worship the void dragon as the omanissah and so aren't complete xenophobes when it comes to necrons

True, but it isn't fully known that the Void Dragon is the Omnissah. They do not accept the Necron, merely study it. However, were the truth revealed, I'm sure some rogue adept would attempt to contact the Necrons, to little avail.

Want some more heresy? There is an argument that the tyranid waves are being directed by the outsider. Heresy that!

Ahh i'm pretty sure this happened and it was described in the necron codex. And why else would Necron scout ships be shot down entering the martian atmosphere. my conclusion:Everyone but the necrons are pretty much screwed.
