A few days ago, my Xbox finally broke down. One quarter of the ring is red and I get the E74 error message. Luckily, I still had warranty and while I'm typing this, my Box is already in Frankfurt, waiting to be repaired.
Anyway, I wasn't familiar with the error itself so I checked yotube, if there was some sort of DIY method to repair this, out of pure curiosity, I wasn't going to risk any more damage, but I found something very interesting. Appearantly, the error can temporarely be solved the same way some people get rid of the red Ring of Death: by wrapping it in a towel and leaving it on for half an hour!
As far as I know, the rRoD is an error caused by overheating, so can this be helpful in any way? Do the contacts melt back together, or what?
I'm not really sure, what caused the error on my Xbox. I was hooked up on our home cinema over the holidays but it was still well ventilated. It worked for a few days without a fuzz and it wasn't the first time I did that, so I'm a bit puzzled what exactly caused the error and how I can avoid in the future.
Thoughts, ideas, anyone?
