Hey guys, just got back from putting together a Blood Angels Honour Guard set. Kit was fine, with the exception of the Standard Bearer. The joint from the wrist to the hand holding the Standard was awful (and required pinning, as did the Tech-Adept's body), but that isn't why I'm posting.

Once I put the guy together, he would NOT balance. I tried on tables, and other flat surfaces, and the weight of the (metal) Standard just tipped him over everytime. I have since found a solution (paper clip pin from the base into his pelvis, which gives the effect of him in mid-air (which is fine, seeing as he has a jump pack), but I've ran into this balance problem a lot with other models (Hormagaunts, Howling Banshees, few others).

What do you all use to balance a model that will not stand up? Coins under the base work to an extent, but some models are so badly balanced that even that isn't enough. Any suggestions? I can't have every unbalanced unit 'flying', as much as it does look good

I use lead shot and just glue the little balls into the bases to keep unbalanced models stable. A 10 pound bag over at Wal-Mart was rather cheap and has more then enough shot to last for quite some time. The shot fits together tightly and allow you to get more weight in there then just gluing pieces of metal.

I've got some left over bits of lead sheeting from another project that I use little pieces of to help with balance issues.
