Ork Freebooter Flash Gitz Kit Bash:

These will be the basis for a kit bash for 5 Flash gitz, also going to use some parts from Nobz box and boyz box, maybe some plasticard. Project just starting, pics shown below. The maxmini blisters were excellent, no flash, no mold lines. The resin micro art studios blister had 2 ork bodies with the left leg defective, the resin didnt get into the mold properly, I was so excited to see orks with heavy armor and trench coat bodies at my FLGS that I didnt check the product, so no idea if it was just my pack or all of them are like that.

This is an old conversion for a chaos dread I have for my thousand sons army, I am going to revamp it slightly and shave down the green stuff with w dremel tool that makes up the body so it is smoother, then possibly add something to the body or sculpt scales into it or possibly parts from the pink horror kit like arms and or faces coming out. Pics below.

The dragon like part of the model is an old dark elf dragon metal body and tail. The head part is the original RT edition chaos dread head, and yes it is Lead and not pewter. Arms are from the metal chaos dred kit 2nd edition era, and the spiky bits are from dark eldar kits. Body is greenstuff [poorly done honestly] and the extra wiring are actually extra wires I had from some broken electronics, I always keep broken electronic wires that are thin because they scale well for 40k models.

cool conversion, and I agree those are some great looking orcs.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Below is a pic of a nearly complete WIP Tau Shas'O

I liked the forge world models a lot but didn't want to wait for them and at the time couldn't afford to buy them so I studied them for a little bit and thought about what I liked about the models the most. It was the way the weapons were integrated into the hands instead of just being glued on the outside, it gave the model a sleeker sophisticated look than a box with some stuff stuck on it. I also liked the legs, they were more interesting looking and stronger, they looked like they could actually support the large box structure that was the body. I also wanted it to have a winged special look but didn't want it to look anime. I wanted it to still look tau.

So for the arms all i did was take a dremel tool with sanding attachment and literally cut away the inside part of the army from the bottom but left the top. The weapons were trimmed down and sanded and placed recessed inside the hand bits. I added an extra weapon to make the Shas'O look extra shooty, and a shield generator bit, which will still be worked on and cut up to just become a decorative icon.

The wings were the objective markers from the tau stealth suit bits with the target lock wargear item turned backwards. No shaving was needed they actually all fit in perfectly to spot.....weird!

The legs were a little harder. I decided I wanted the bottom part of the leg where the foot connects to look bulkier and add knee pads. I felt that would make the legs look stronger and give me the look I wanted. So I cut the legs off at the knee cap. The bottom part of the leg is actually each the end part of the fusion blaster from the crisis suit sprue trimmed back. The round knobs on the bit are from the flamer bit off the crisis suit sprue. Knee pads are tau shoulder pads that have been filed down and filled with clear glue, you can still see the lines were the tau homeworld icon is but its filled in and when primed will show no texture there.

I need to clean up the glue and a few mold lines still, and fill in the gaps around the weapons where they connect to the arms.

As well as add vents to the intake for the wings (target lock bit)

in case anyone cares the plastic rod for him being in the air is just a normal plastic flight stick with a second clear plastic flight stick filed down and cut in half on top of the first.

Simplistic yet smart conversion. I have always found the tau the hardest to convert as well doesn't seem ,TO ME MIND YOU, much to work with. Bravo though cool stuff.

I'd twist the legs back slightly, because with the angle of the flying stand it sort of looks like a roof crane has sort of grabbed the suit and is carrying it away.

very minor update:

FLASH GITZ kit bash:

spent about 5 hours cleaning flak and molding off the bodies, found that two of the legs were so defective they had to be amputated...luckily orks are a hardy race and you can easily kut off da legz of some boyz and stich'm on da tough gitz.

so legs were cut off some boys sprue and sawed down to the knees, then legs were removed from the trenchcoat bodies and the superior boys leg was put into their place.

lineup pic, then pic of gitz with shiny new legs. Hopefully will have some serious time to work this week, one year old daughter is the bane of the orks existence
