Its been a week and no response from him for my trade complaint. He might be going to Japan soon so i want to settle this while he
is still here.

Here is what happend:

I traded him for my assembled but other wise all new Space Marine army , even gave him a Terminator Chaplain.
and in return i was supposed to get :

60 new Skull Pass goblins , with exception of he said 10 are painted / coated.
1 soul grinder
10 black orcs
2 spear chukka.

Initially i dont normally trust anyone refusing to provide me clear photos [ flag 1]. But deffskullz have been scammed before , and i have helped him.
Thus i felt he would never wrong me and i thought ok , atleast then let his parcel arrive and i can check before mailing mine out.

Then after he shipped , he send me a message telling me to ship his part out right away so he can use it to play on the same week. This i see as [ flag 2]
Now if i have mailed express , that would be asking me to pay for beyond what we agreed to.
and If i have mailed airmail that would have risked him claiming he didnt receive it
thus back to sticking with Expedited , slower but sure. Thus i sent his parcel out so hopefully it'll arrive for him to play sooner.

Now when his box arrived [pics provided below] everything about the trade was a wreck , i'll let the picture speak for themselves.

I never said that all the SKull pass goblins were new I said that 10 were painted and some were primed over ( i even included some extra NoS gobbos) and all the models were in the pics.

Soul grinder I said was disassembled in some parts
the stuff put on to "fix" the model were the parts i put on initially to put on which i later realized would not hold it together and so i took it apart and scraped off the better part of it

the black orcs i realize were my fault and am sorry for miscounting

While i do appreciate you trying to "fix" the soul grinder , i already told you that i absolutely suck at modeling aspect of this hobby.
And you should have told me the truth that the soul grinder cannot hold together instead of just continuing with the transaction.

I dont even know what to do with the goblins sprue you sent me , they arnt the same type and look out of place.
And they are mostly left over arms and bows.

I am sorry for not living up to your expectations what can i do to try to fix the situation

How about $20 to replace the missing and broken minis?

My comments would be:

1. ALWAYS ask for pictures before trading with a complete stranger. If you have seen the pics of the soul grinder = totally different outcome.

2. Take it to pm on your guy's dealing and let us know what you guys work out.

3. Luna, nice pictures to accurately describe the issues at hand.

he has also refused to send miniatures even though i shipped mine and provide him with a proof of postage, aka reciept, imo he is not to be trusted...

Painted crappy broken models. Not enough parts. And newspaper that doesnt hold up as packing.

No. At the time I complained, a mod said their not responsible, and there wasnt a mechanism for bad traders. So there was nothing to do. Apparantly thats changed. I still have the models in a box, and PM's in my inbox.

But this seriously - is one of the most annoying gripes I have about trading with the 'unknowns'.

I've gotten 'awesome' sounding deals of a good chunk of models - and the kicker is that they either are destroyed beyond use, missing parts, or caked with paint.

For that - i usually ask now these days specifically on the condition, and pics =/.

I always ask. I've been dealing with bartertown for a long time. For rouge market not as long. Its not like I dont know what I'm doing.

But after that one deal here? No thanks. There's no recourse, and no warning and no bad trader warnings until too late.

To avoid issues like this, I always post pics (check my gallery) and ask for the same. That way both traders can see exactly what they're trading for.

It would be difficult to quantify what would be proper recompense. Perhaps both parties sending back what was originally traded?

The mods have suggested this to me , but one thing troubling me is , that means everyone pretty much will be paying for shipping
TWICE. And who is going to pay for the $15 per shipping for shipping it twice?

Imo the person who causes a deal to fail should pay for all the shipping costs, so that means your initial shipping expenses + all the shipping expenses to send eachother's miniatures back. You would have your minis back and lost no money in the ordeal.

Of course he could deny it is his fault this deal failed and refuse this option, but I guess that is for you two to argue about.

Luna, I see what you're saying.

Paypal is the best way to go. If he doesn't have paypal, he can go to a bank and get an American Express/money order type check for the $20 and send it to you that way. If he's stateside, he can moneygram it to you. All Wal-marts have moneygram and he should be close enough to one to get it to you.

You can get certified/tracking/delivery confirmation for any correspondence, pretty much, from the USPS.

Another thing to consider, if you had to choose right now:

No it certainly does not -_-

But if i want my marines back , i would have to ask for $30 from deffskullz ( to cover the 2 times total i need to ship to him )

If i am able to get my marine back safely , then yes i would much prefer that route of sending his item back , providing that he pays for the shippings.

why not eat the shipping to him i mean everyone pays there shipping, whilst it means that you effectively paid 30 bucks for nothing it's still better than being stuck with craqp models, also if he doesn't want his junk back then you can just send him a payment over what you think the models are worth once you recieve the marine army....

no, but i would say it is better than the alternative...... it was just a compromise, personally i'd have him ship your stuff back to you, if he wants his back he'll have to pay you to ship it back to him... but then as i know him he will not do so... i'm afraid you may atually be stuck with the crap he sent you.... you should have been (much) more careful dealing with him seeing that he had a btr already....which is not to say that any of this was your mistake whatsoever.....

i was merely pointing out that:

marines -30$ > crap +5$
or in other words are the marines worth 25$ more than the crap? if so then you should ask for your marines back as keeping the crap would leave you worse off than having the marines shipped back to you...

from this we learn:

WHEN DEALING WITH BAD TRADERS SUCH AS DEFFSKULLZ DO NOT SHIP UNLESS YOU HAVE RECIEVED PAYMENT OR GOODS AND ARE SATISFIED WITH THEIR CONDITION....

I've consolidated carmachu's post in another topic into this one.

AS per the mods instruction, here's the transaction of what showed up. This happened back in Oct 2009.

It was for 3 boxes of NG and three blisters of fanatics for:

1 Battlewagon (5th ed)
Weirdboy
Big mek with kustom mega blasta
4 burnas and a big mek


no mention of painted models by him is ever metioned ever.

Much like lunahound, the models come in a box with newspaper, no ither protection.

The battlewagon:

badly painted, with some white stuff stuck to the front(see second picture), and missing a wheel.

Deffskullz , I do prefer to have my marines back and i ship your items back to you , but that puts you with the burdens for paying for the shipping costs.

FYI, deffskullz decide to now contact me and ask how to repay his "mistake".

I've told him what he needs to do, which is a replacement battlewagon. I can strip the metal ones and will forego the burners.
