I've been thinking, and for somthing like assault marines, wouldn't this be nice?

Basically, an assault marine fires, he misses but he is carrying akimbo bolt pistols, so he counts as TL.

Therefore, he gets a re-roll.

ALSO in close combat, he gets 1+ to attacks.

Would be nice. I love the idea of akimbo pistols (have a few models with it in fact).

No, assault marines are fairly bad but they don't need this. They aren't supposed to be shooters and when you think about it:

Vs. T 3 models

10 man assault squad = 10 shots

2/3 chance to hit = 7 hits (rounding up)

4 wounds (rounding up)

2/3 reroll = 9 hits

5 wounds (rounding up)

So you get one extra wound, before armor saves, which really isn't much. On a fluff note akimbo pistols in CC is a terrible idea. They would have to reduce their WS as they wouldno longer have the ability to parry attacks made against them

I've brought this up before. I like the idea. Assault Marines are decent candidate for the weapon, but I'd also like to have it available for Captains, Chapter Masters, Sergeants and other characters.

I also don;t think twin linked pistols should be limited to Space Marines. IG characters should have access to TL laspistols.

Sure, they can have Dual-wielding pistols, however there must be a trade off.

They should cost 5 extra points
OR be swapped out for grenades (they'll need extra ammo for both pistols)
OR lose the extra cc attack

IMO it wouldn't make much difference.

Actually it says "may trade for x or y (bolt pistol and chainsword.)" effectively, it says if one model fires two of the same weapon they count as TL.

I could buy 2 plasma pistols and get this fairly.

@lordrevege: I agree that there should be a points cost. Probably no more than what a storm bolter would cost, though. Oh, and Ring a ding ding dong. :p
