They are all good and have their place, but most shy away from the Dev Squad. Technically it can take several hits without reducing it's firepower, and the vehicles can be blasted apart by a single shot... but the Dev's are expensive and static while the vehicles are mobile and on average more survivable.
Depending upon the rest of your army, I would take the Predator or Land Raider because of the range. Vindicators to me scatter too much off of vehicles.

Land Raiders are the best of the bunch.
Not just because of their weapons, but because you can fill it with Terminators.

A Landraider is a good place to start. Vanilla flavor provides some long ranged anti-armor support.
Predators are a good second buy. Dakka pred(Autocan and heavy bolters) is prehaps the most useful.
Vindicators are good against hordes and can damage tanks that get directly hit. they are even better in groups of 3 when they can utterly annhilate a position if you need it done.

SM Landraiders are my worst nightmare.
That machine spirit rule makes it very killy.
No matter which variant you take, you'll be sure to claim many lives.
Preds are cool, so are Devs, but they don't have the ability to smash through your opponent's lines and then just keep on going.

I would say definitely Land Raider or Predator. If you have the points and some CC terminators then take the Raider, if not take a lascannon toting predator. =D

Well first off you don't counter Heavy Support with Heavy Support better options are Fast Attack.
As for which Heavy Supports are good choices, personally I like Predators (Autocannon/Heavy Bolters), Devastators (Full squad w/4 Rocket Launchers or Heavy Bolters), and Vindicators. Land Raiders are great but only time I use them is a dedicated transport for my Assault Terminators
The Thunderfire Cannon and Whirlwind are to situational, if you know your gunna be up against alot of GEQ ground pounders, I could see them being useful

Fight fire with fire.
Take 2 Vindicators, a Land Raider and a squad of TH/SS Terminators. If he's got the points to field this, so do you
Here's what you do.
The Oblits are likely the biggest threat. Vindi's next and LR last.
Your Vindi's are glass cannons. First turn, hide them from the Oblits. Next turn, (unless you can move 6" and get a good shot) move them 12" into a good firing position and pop smoke. 3rd Turn, open up on the Oblits if any are left.
While doing this, send your LR filled with termies towards the oblits. You can move 12" and still fire a lascannon at his Vindi's or LR. The Termi's should make short work of the oblits and then you should consolidate into cover. After that, charge and shoot his remaining vehicles and march your troops forward to claim objectives.
Also, 10 man tactical squads have access to heavy weapons at relatively low costs and could definitely help as well
