For spell casting and even in the case of the crew javelins or giant blow guns, what is the LoS? The beast itself has the 45 arc in front, and the giant bow does as well, those are easy.

Logic dictates that blowpipes would be able to shoot all but rear facings, javelins have 360 and spells 360, but I don't have proof of a ruling.

FAQ doesn't mention it, only that they "count" as war machines for purposes of character Bs and so on.

Sadly, I would say that everything works out of JUST the front arc of sight. I base that on this: "A monster and its rider or riders count as a single model in the same way as a cavalry model [although different rules apply]" (BRB p. 59; Monstrous Mounts). The Steg and its riders are considered one model with US 10 (Lizardmen book p. 55; Stegadon entry). Not being of US 1 (giving 360 LOS) as each Skink/character has "joined" the Steg model this means the riders are bound to the LOS drawn by the base of the model; in this case is the Stegs... At least that it how I read it, too bad it blows. Someone prove me wrong... please??

45 degree LOS *only* as they have no exception otherwise. They *used to* but not anymore.

Bah. I knew that without an exception it would be 45 arc. I boy can dream I suppose. Logic takes yet another beating at the cruel hands of RAW.

No, it is a balancing mechanism in this case - now you can put priests on stegadons being on a large target with 360 LOS is a little overpowered.

It is why you cant pay to make characters scout - as otherwise so could their mount. Scouting stegadons for the win!
