So say a Tyranid had Rending Claws and Scything Talons, do they stack? By that I mean, does all the CC attacks that Tyranid model have reroll on 1's to hit, and rend on 6's on to wound? Or does the Tyranid player have to choose whether it's Scything Talons or Rending Claws?

I have seen this debate on another forum and would like to see what Dakka Dakka members say now, since I havn't seen it debated here in a bit. Since we can't bring up old threads, I made a new one to see what the current opnions are.

I say they stack, because the way it's worded. Mind you I am not fimiliar with other codicies but DA, and I don't play them much I could have read it wrong. In the Tyranid codex it says "CC attacks made by models with Rending Claws (for example) gain the rending ability...

So since I read models with rending claws, not models using rending claws means the Tyranid player dosn't have to pick and choose wich weapon to use.

Since some Tyranid models also can have 2 sets of scything talons, they can't get the +1A. That would be a big nerf if you had to pick and choose. Also, if you had to pick and choose, how can you get to reroll all misses then? If you are using your upper ST you can't use your lower ST so there fore you would never be able reroll all your misses then, you would only be able to reroll on 1's all the time.

Please correct me where I am wrong if I am.

Thanks.

In Short: Yes.
In Long: Yes and Search, there have been masses of topics about this.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/jforum.page?module=search&action=search&search_keywords=Tyranids+Close+Combat&match_type=all&forum=15&sort_by=time&sort_dir=ASC

ALso, Nids NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER get +1A for multiple Close Combat Weapons as per Page 33.

I know there were other post about this, but I didn't want to, what is it called threadnomancy?

Also I wanted to see what the current opnion is, because from reading the other forum, non tyranid players are still insiting that Tyranids have to pick one or the other.

The "Current opinion" (whatever that means) means diddly Squat. The rules are clear as day. They stack. End of Discussion. I don't play Nids, and I say they stack, because the rules say they do.

And If the "other forum" is the other forum I think it is, you are better off just ignoring that other forum altogether and just stick to Dakka.

Well I really respect what you say Gwar. Can you tell me by RAW why they do stack. This way I can bring it to our debate in the other forum.

You got it yourself in the OP there. The rules for Tyranid "CCW's" say models WITH them get the benefits, not models USING them. Add to that the rule on page 33 which states that Nids never USE CCWs, anyone saying they don't stack is just acting like a sulking child who didn't get the sweeties.

Hmmm, another forum that has a worse grasp of rules than Dakka, could be just about any 40k forum on the internet. Although the most immediate example of poor understanding and misuse of rules would have to be BOLS.

I love some of the stuff they do there, and they are often good with rumours, but lord do some of the incorrect rulings I have seen on that site bug the hell out of me.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

The other Forum is The Tyranid Hive. We all agree that they do stack, someone is playing the Devils Advocate. The reason for the debate there is just in case you ever meet someone who insists that you can only use one CC special weapon and would have to choose between Scything Talons or Rending Claws for example.

Page 33 where it mentions fighting with 'more than one close combat wepon' would also be helpful

As would page 30 in the Tyranids codex that states that they never use close combat weapons.

Well, other than your reference is fluff based and mine is rules, yes that's an equally valid point as neither specifies a choice/one it's all or nothing and the effects are transferred either way

Well the reference isnt fluff based - their rule is they never use close combat weapons. You know its a rule because it has an ingame effect.
