I'm building a mech IG army with some awesome conversions but I could use some more ideas for painting!

One of my personal peeves is people who start threads like this without contributing. If you want to see what people have done on a particular model type, there is a GALLERY with tons of pictures.

In fairness this one was a bit more inventive than 'Show me your Orks'.

Dakka did a painting challenge called Nitty Gritty Armour, there was some good stuff in there.
I'd check out the personal galleries of the people who contributed.

Both GW's 'How to Paint Citadel Tanks' and ForgeWorld's 'Imperial Armour Model Masterclass' are full of useful tips, info, techniques and ideas.

I will contribute this afternoon, between sleep and work I don't have time to upload everything. I wanted to make the thread before I forgot. Thanks for the interest!

This is the painting and modeling forum. The thread is perfectly appropriate. If you don't like it don't read it or bother with it.

Calling somebody out when they are being an asshat isn't an attack it's a reality check...

The difference is you are choosing to go out of your way to attack someone for starting a thread for no good reason. I am then reacting to your asshatery by saying "don't be such an asshat". Your behavior initiated our exchange. Without said asshatery I would not have needed to say anythign to you. Can you follow the chain?

Big difference, though I'm not surprised you can't see the difference. Bullies rarely think they are at fault for anything they do...

Someone who cruises a forum for threads that they can be 'offended" by. The types who like to preach to people about what they should or shouldn't do because it is somehow some great offense against humanity to start a thread...

Fair play, Im with you there buddy, There,s alot of "asshats" on these threads.

Personally, i like these threads when they do get a lot of contributors. That said, I totally understand people taking issue with threads where the OP is not contributing. If you are looking for inspiration, and have work to show off for yourself, by all means, go ahead and create a thread like this, other wise, the gallery is full of great images that are just a search away.

There is no need to call someone an asshat just because they have the opinion that the OP should contribute, and i am pretty sure that i saw the OP said that he was going to, but didn't have the time until later.

The "chain" appears to be that you didn't like what I posted and thus decided to be a forum troll in response.

Rules #1 and #4 are kinda being broken left and right here. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/218249.page if you don't know what I'm referring to.

I can show you some of my barbed wire fences/etc, but I think it is better to show you where I got the instructions on how to make them and let a pro show you what they should look like. I did use some rusting chemical on the barbed wire afterwards to rust them up properly without a lot of fancy painting and that came out quite nicely.

And as such, both of you are breaking Dakka's rule #1. Being rude in response to someone else being rude doesn't make you 'right'... it just drops you to their level.

If you see a post that you think crosses the line, that's what the Mod Report button is for. Taking it on yourself to call the poster out is just as likely to see you receive the same warning that they get.



So how about everyone settles down and concentrates on the topic at hand, and leaves the moderating the the moderators? I would rather not have to start handing out suspensions on my first day back from holidays.

It is indeed, as I was unwilling to buy a FW Valk for the purposes of destroying it (this was before the plastic one came out). However, I may well make another one now that Valks are cheaper!
