it looks good but the metal bits like the back of the legs look boring, if there was some other colors and grease looking stains, rust and such would make a difference

I'd wash the tips of the multimelta with some increasingly dark washes (gryphonne sepia to some badab black at the end) to make it look heat treated. So far as the bases, I have no advice - my bases are very boring.

For basing, just used some ballast and crumbled plaster painted up with static grass over some spots. Works for me.

Is that a bit dark for Hawk Lords? I thought they were a lot lighter than that.

yeah, i don't like they light purple, i like the royal purple and dark gold. They remind me of like Roman Royal guard or something.

is the bird icon on the shoulder free handed? if so, i'd recommend making the beak slimmer and more angular. as it is right now, it's detailed but a bit too friendly IMO. you're an angry spees marine! hurr!

Excellent work, but I agree with the above post. The beak is way too dull.(sharpness wise)Also, the wings are inconsistent. The top of the left wing curves over the head. Also, the feathers on the left wing are really thick. Tidy up please.

Would that be the Praetorian Guard? Got to admit nice colours though, I'm using the chapter symbol for the Hawk Lords for my D.I.Y. chapter and was wondering did you freehand the symbol?

yeah, i freehand all my hawk lords emblems... the only advice i have for freehanding stuff, is to practice painting the emblem on paper first, so you can get used to the lines you'll have to make, and make sure you paint it the same size as you're gonna paint it on the model. don't be afraid to paint it several times on paper until you're confident painting the symbol that size

To break up the solid metal look of the legs you could paint the hoses a different colour. Do them like you did the wires for the casket part.
